What is the difference between this one and the Transformer Prime?
The TF300T has a slightly lower clock rate 1.2ghz Tegra 3 (still a superb quad core processor) but the display is downgraded from S-IPS to IPS. The display is not as bright as the original Transformer and not even close to the Prime.
The TF300T has a plastic back and the Prime is 1.2mm thinner and has an aluminum back
The TF300T also lacks Gorilla glass that the Prime has (and so did the original Transformer)
The plastic back may have been adopted to address the WiFi issues with the Transformer Prime which has a metal case.
If you can deal with the mediocre display, this is a good tablet but the price is not hot. Full retail on this 32GB tablet is only $399. Also note that there is only $20 difference between the 16GB and the 32GB models, $379 and $399 respectively.
I posted the Microcenter deal but I think I like your deal better. I have a $25.00 Amazon gift card vs Microcenter -- which is down the street from my office but with a-- 6% ($21) tax.
Maybe we should wait a little longer and this price will drop some more as the slew of Summer tablets are released
I appreciate the positive feedback
I really don't think you will see Asus drop the price on the 32 GB model for some time.
The other major devices coming out are the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 which is being upgraded to Tegra 3 before release. I expect that to be $399.99 for the 16 GB and 449.99 or 499.99 for the 32 GB. There will also be the Asus TF700 coming out, with the 1900 x 1200 Super IPS+ screen and 1.3 GHz Tegra 3, selling at $599.99 for the 32 GB, and 699.99 for the 64 GB. Finally, the Acer Iconia Tab A510 which has similar specs to the TF300T, selling for $450 for the 32 GB model. They also have the Acer Iconia Tab A700 with a 1920 x 1080 IPS screen, which definitely won't start below $500. It will probably will be $549.99 for the 16 GB, and up from there. Oh, and last but not least, the Toshiba Excite 10 which starts at $449.99 for the 16 GB model, $529.99 for the 32 GB, and $649.99 for the 64 GB.
With those prices, the TF300 is $50 below the Iconia Tab A510 out of the gate. It also has a better 8 MP camera. I see the $349.99 price being the cheapest for the 32 GB model in the near term. I wouldn't be surprised to see the 16 GB model sell for $299.99 on Black Friday.
He states that it isn't that good of a deal. Also, as someone else pointed out, it's for the 32GB model, not 16GB.
I wish I could downvote you, lol
Yeah, it isn't as hot as the MicroCenter deal, but those with MicroCenters had to pay tax, so it might be about similar if you price it out.
Personally, I got mine for $330.75 Shipped at NeweggBusiness with the 15% off coupon.
