Yeah, if you don't already have another 4GB stick then they can be found for 12-20 bucks and it should only take a couple of minutes to replace the 2GB stick. Easy upgrade .

U know what the numbers are on that ram, like latency wise, was thinking about buying some performance 1333 ram, since I hear thats whats in there already, just wondering if its worth it

The RAM in these Gateways is 9-9-9-24-2T 1.5v 1333 DDR3, your basic run of the mill ram.

Got one more question for you, how do these run heat wise, do they get warm when gaming?

They actually stay pretty cool. After 12 hours of prime95 it was around 74 C. After a couple of hours of Crysis Warhead it was around 65 C. These temps are with the overclocked processor too.

alright so I now have it and am using it. How did you overclock at all, Im using overdrive, the only thing I seem to be able to set is regular core to 2.4, turbo Is not allowing me to adjust to 2600. Also when I set it to 2.4, it doesnt accept it. Just sets the targets back down to 400mhz lol.

Look up a program called K10stat. Here are my exact settings. Play around with it until you find something that's stable and that you're happy with.

When I try to run k10stat I get
cant detect family 10h processor

also any clue as to why when I go into bios it says the video ram is 512mb instead of 1gb?

I am also having issues with the display drivers, I can access CCC at all, working on that one now

yeah I cant get amd to install drivers properly, do you have to use the official gateway ones or something. I have tried completely removing the drivers and drive sweeping and it always gets errors on install, tried 2 different downloads. Also CCC never comes up

fixed the ccc issue, and resolved the 512 vs 1gb issue, anything on k10 error?

edit again, got the program running but displays k10stat clock control function is disabled. Got it enabled and all seems to be set the same as yours, but it still sits at 800 mhz when idling, and never peaks above 2.4

any ideas DonnieT?

Hey sorry, that sounds right actually. At idle it should be 800 MHz. Turbo (2.6 GHz, the B0 state) only kicks in one core and doesn't happen too often, only on menial tasks that don't stress all cores. If everything's being stressed you should see all cores at 2.4 GHz (the P0 state). It chooses different states depending on how much the CPU is being stressed. I suggest running prime95 for at least 12 hours to ensure the overclock is stable.

I know thread's a little old but the A6 17.3 inch Gateway does come with 2 hard drives already installed. Shouldn't be a problem to replace one with a SSD. Also I've been playing D3 and it runs beautifully at max settings at native resolution. There's FPS dips when a ton is going on but for the most part it's pretty smooth.

how did you manage this, you running both cards, if so I may have a driver issues, if I run dual graphics the game slows down to a crawl when a lot is going on or destructible enviornment, if I run just APU it lags fps wise losing frames, both mind you are running the game on lowest. What drivers you on?

Hey, running latest drivers and using the dual graphics option. I made the post before I got to act 3. Act 1 and 2 ran fairly smooth at max settings but once I hit act 3 things started to slow down. I've had to back down the settings and it runs pretty smooth now but even so when there's alot going on or I'm partied with 3 or more people things can get pretty slow. I'm content with the performance though and even my desktop can lag on Diablo III with a full party and when there's a ton of stuff going on.
