I guess the direct mail offer is better, since it does not require DD in order to get the bonus. True Facts: The chances of you dying on the way to get your lottery tickets is greater than your chances of winning

I work at a bank. If they say it's an extra 10% cash back, it's an extra 10% OF the cash back. For instance, if you get 1% cash back on a $100 purchase, that's $1. Add the extra 10% and that's a total of $1.10 cash back on $100.

But either way you still need the direct deposit to get the $200 in the first place. If you can get the direct deposit for the first time, perhaps you can get the $500 deposit for the rest of the months, and not let them hold any of your money. Can anyone that used paypal for deposit confirm that it worked? |

Even if you keep only $100 in the account for six months, the maintenance fee will be $12 x 6 = $72. $200-$72 = $128. Think of it as making 256% on you $100 investment.

The offer I have does not require direct deposit, I have one of the offer slips that was mailed w/Chase credit card. Apparently different from another offer floating out there that requires a DD? |

Alright, when I put in my ZIP code, it says:
The Chase product or service you selected is not available in the Zip Code you entered. Please check the Zip Code to be sure it was entered correctly. For more information about our products or services, please Contact Us. So, I put in a different code (10101 NYC) and I can apply. However, when I start the application, it says that the zip code isn't valid. Anyone else having this issue? |

Not sure why no one has mentioned this, as I thought it was old news around here, but:
ANY ACH transaction counts as a direct deposit. Even though they say it has to be payroll etc, it does not. I do this every year and the way I get around the monthly fee is to transfer the minimum (in this case) $500 from my savings account to this new account on the first of the month. Then, a week later, I transfer it back into my savings account. I setup the transfers to be automatic so I dont have to remember each month. Then close the account 6 months later. |

Can Amazon payments count as Direct Deposit - or are there any other methods of having direct deposit like Paypal?
It is a ton of work and labor to get it set up with my employer .. But 200 sounds good. Any workarounds? edit:

Well, I went ahead and opened the account. I'll setup direct deposit later and hopefully my credit union won't get butthurt for changing my DD to Chase.
