$200 is taxable income. You will get 1099 for this.

*Service Fee: Chase Total CheckingSM has no Monthly Service Fee when you do one of the following each statement period:
Option #1: Have monthly direct deposit totaling $500 or more made to this account; OR
Option #2: Keep the daily balance in your checking account at or above $1,500; OR
Option #3: Keep an average balance of $5,000 or more in your checking and other types of qualifying Chase accounts.

Otherwise a $12 Monthly Service Fee will apply ($10 monthly Service Fee in CA, OR and WA). For more information, please see a banker or visit Chase.com/Checking.

Seems ACH push can avoid monthly fee, But can not get the bonus
If you have an existing Chase Checking Account :-(
Offer not available to existing Chase checking customers, those with fiduciary accounts, those whose accounts have been closed within 90 days or with a negative balance.

It is per any rolling 12 month period. So you cannot get a checking account related bonus in december and another on next month in january. You CAN however get more than one bonue per year if it relates to another type of accout/product. ie, savings bonus, bill pay bonus, etc...
hoping i can get a clear answer from you because when i call into chase csrs i get varying answers, If you already have a chase cc and you open this new check acc for bonus will it do a hard pull ?

12 month period starts counting at account open or account close? Let say I open an account today, close it on Nov 6, 2012. Can I do another similar promotion on 5/7/2013 or 11/7/2013?
Thanks.
It is 12 months from the date that the coupon was redeemed. The date that you recieved your bonus.

If they're going to promote things such as that extra 10% UR points to Freedom users, I'd expect them not to pull.
But I would also like a more absolute answer to this question if possible.
Thanks.

Yes. The $1500 is daily, so you will be charged a service fee if you go below that even or one day. Keep in mind that it only counts toward your end of day balance. So, if you drop below 1500 at 2:00pm and then make a deposit at 6:00pm to bring up your balance you will be OK.
Alright, that's what I thought. I just went ahead and transferred enough to make my monthly balance over $5,000, since I won't be able to get my account number to do an ACH push from PayPal until after the cycle closes for the 1st month.

How come you can't get your account # until the 1st month cycle closes?

I'm out of the country and won't be back until 2 days after the cycle closes, so I can't get it from the letters that they've sent (unless I were to ask the store owner where I have my mail sent to open the packet, which I don't want to do). They wouldn't give it to me over the phone, and it's not online, since a statement isn't issued until the cycle closes.

And if you have a loan through them. A car loan with more than $5000 left on it counts.edit: NOT any more. Does not count.

Does anyone know if they really enforce the "not closed account within past 90 days"? I closed my account about 45 days ago. Anyone still got the bonus even after they closed their account within 90 days?

No, a Hard pull is only applied when you are applying for a loan/credit product. Deposit accounts do not call for a hard credit pull.

Where do I get the routing and account number to link for paypal? I made the account online. Before I was able to link my Wells Fargo account by using a check.

What fee are you talking about? For paper statements?

Even grandfathered accounts will not last forever. We had an incredible amount of customers cancel their "Totally free Wamu free checking" accounts when we "ended" the grandfathered period. Customers were grandfathered in for about 18 months after Chase took over Wamu.

Just a heads up...
