Progressive taxation is fundamentally fair because those who get more, pay more. |

It's a dumb to act as though taxing the rich more, will in any way fix our problems Attacking the "evil rich" is nothing but a lame us against them tactic. Used to stir up hate among a certain voting bloc. I agree the money needs to be taken out of politics, We need to demand strict new laws to keep having our elected officials votes from being sold to the highest bidder. The corrupt practice of Lobbying also has to stop. But people need to remember, its not just the other side that does these things. It's both sides |

But what does having them pay a "higher share" actually accomplish? With the exception of making the Left feel all warm and fuzzy? The Buffet Rule is nothing but a drop in the bucket. Does nothing to even begin to address our problems. But it certainly serves as a good rallying cry. It certainly works as a good distraction for the ignorant. Red meat issues... The Right has their ignorant rallying cry's too. The only purpose these things serve, is to keep us all distracted from the real issues facing our country. The definition of insanity, is doing the same thing over and over, while expecting a different result. Let's just keep voting these morons into office, and see if the Hope of real Change ever materializes... |

Buffets rule might be a symbolic gesture but nonetheless an important one. And im gonna repeat this. The following two statements are sinisterly inconsistent: 1. The top 1% or so pay 50% of the income tax. 2. Raising taxes on the top 1% does not put even a dent in the deficit. |

How much higher of a rate would you need to get our financial house in order? It's not going to happen on the backs of the super rich. To pretend this will fix anything is very irresponsible. I'm all for removing loopholes that allow for the rich to pay lower taxes. But those loopholes have to be removed across the board. With a much more simplified tax code. Your idea of fairness is inconsistent with reality. How is taxing one group at a higher rate than another group, " fair?" If you want fairness, if that is what your side is truely after, then advocate for a flat tax. But it's not really about fairness, it's about having a certain group pay their perceived "fair share." Our out of control spending, stemming from our bloated government, is the problem. If we fail to get the reach of our goverment under control, we all lose. |
