cannot print PDFs

new hp computer and everytime i try to print PDFs it pops up cannot print them goes straight to MS office thankks and will rep

Did you install the printer driver? Did you select the printer in the print window?

You do have Adobe Reader installed, right?

Open Adobe Reader, Choose File open locate and open file, File print.

If this works you probably want to change it so adobe reader is the default handler for .pdf files. If this doesn't work, reinstall Adobe reader or another pdf reader like Sumatra or Foxit.

Try to open the PDF file with Acrobat Reader program and go to FILE -> PRINT and then choose the correct (physical) printer you want to use.

Almost sounds like you have the Microsoft Document Image Writer as the default printer so it is trying to pass that data for the PDF into that software driver and it cannot read it.

Verify that your printer, not the Microsoft Document Image Writer, is the default printer. Right click on your printer and choose Set as default printer then try to print again.

I had a similar problem with Acrobat. Uninstalled version 10 and installed version 9. All issues went away.

I had printing problems with Adobe Acrobat, and installed PDFLite and all is good.

Adobe Acrobat Reader is not the same as Adobe Acrobat. Reader is a viewer ONLY program. It is free and will not produce PDF's. Acrobat is the professional program. It costs several hundred dollars (Sometimes the standard version comes with a scanner or something) . With it you can print to PDF's and do more like create filliable forms, OCR, and more.

If you just need basic print to PDF for websites, etc PDFCreator is a good, free, open source alternative. It installs like a printer so you can go to file print in an app and then instead of producing a paper copy, it produces a PDF. It works great for many people.

If you just need to read a PDF that you created or you got in email for example Foxit Reader is a good free option. Adobe Acrobat reader is good too, but is not without fault. Version 10 is far superior to version 9. It is faster and much more secure due to its built in sandboxing. I would generally recommend people not to use Acrobat Reader since it has lots of security problems and needs constant updating. Adobe has gotten better about this recently but the risks are still there.
