I wonder how much of it is just people trying to ride a train to a big payout if possible too..Complain to all that will listen and see how far it will go...... I have 4 dogs on it eating 3 flavors of Taste Of The Wild and none of them have had any issues and one is a 7mth old puppy now and has been on it since 8 weeks. My daughter who got us started using it has had 0 issues as well as my parents two dogs and father in laws one dog all on it.I will stop feeding it now but have seen no ill effects from feeding them it. Our local store has all the high end foods and has the signs up too but nobody has come in with animals being sick but just to see what their options are now. I may try Orijen again as a replacement... |

I use costco's Nature's Domain for both my dogs, I live in Ohio and it looks like that particular food wasn't included in the recall, but the other Kirkland brands were in Ohio. I'm still debating if i should feed my dogs what i have left, because i put the food in bins and throw away the bag.

Both sites now read If the production code has a number “2” or a “3” in the 9th position AND an “X” in the 10th or 11th position, the product is affected by the recall. The best-before dates for the recalled brands listed above are December 9, 2012 through April 7, 2013. ***Kirkland is the same with a "3" in the 9th place and an "X" in the 11th are affected. Maybe its just me but if my bag had the bad production code but was off on the date by a month or 2......I'd be wanting a refund or one very good explanation as to why mine isn't affected. We feed our dog Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul regular Adult formula, and the bag we had was affected by the recall. My wife called the number and was told to just take it back to the store, which she did and was issued a store credit. Our dog has been having loose stools for around a week at least and we are going to take her to the vet for testing. Whoever my wife talked to at Diamond also said that they would pay for any vet bills, we would just be added to the "Medical" list.
Also, the list that they have for states is not correct. The map that is on the www.diamondpetrecall.com site is more up to date. We are in WV and had a bed bag, but WV isn't on the list. Last edited by Grillhead; 05-06-2012 at 01:03 AM.. Reason: Added stuff |

Kirkland Signature Nature’s Domain Salmon Meal & Sweet Potato Formula for Dogs (December 9, 2012 through January 31, 2013) To determine if their pet food is recalled, consumers should check the production code on their bag. If the code has both a “3” in the 9th position AND an “X” in the 11th position, the product is affected by the recall. The best-before dates for the recalled products are December 9, 2012 through January 31, 2013. |

Ingredient list and companies safety record/violations, are my concerns and while more money doesn't always mean better product, using those 2 rules I have always spent between $1.50- 2.50 per lb retail. I've been using Acana grain free for a while now and love it, same maker as Orijen just lower protein 33% vs 38% and has always had an outstanding safety record. Retail price is only a little less than Orijen but 15-25% off w/ free shipping codes from trusted online sellers, it comes to about $1.50 lb instead of $2.20 in local stores and can sometimes save even more by doing the auto ship. |

We don't buy them by the thinking of $$ means better product BTW...The local places around here really don't have a good supply of foods and the one place we like deals with the higher end 4 and 5 star rating foods and they cost more unfortunately...I really don't like mail order a whole lot as you don't know the dates on the bags till you get them. I realize most reliable places don't ship old product as they move more but its a chance I like to eliminate if possible. Acana looks like a safe bet for our allergy dogs Ingredients: Chicken meal, steel-cut oats, deboned chicken, whole potato, peas, chicken fat, whole egg, deboned flounder, sun-cured alfalfa, chicken liver, herring oil, pea fiber, whole apples, whole pears, sweet potato, pumpkin, butternut squash, parsnips, carrots, spinach, cranberries, blueberries, kelp, chicory root, juniper berries, angelica root, marigold flowers, sweet fennel, peppremint leaf, lavender, vitamin A supplement, vitamin D3 supplement, vitamin E supplement, niacin, riboflavin, folic acid, biotin, vitamin B12 supplement, zinc proteinate, iron proteinate, manganese proteinate, copper proteinate, selenium yeast, dried Enterococcus faecium fermentation product |
