My space need grow gradually depends how many photos I take, and what kid of camera I use. I buy HDs one after another. It can be many in one year, or none in the following year.
Drobo's compatability fits my need, I don't have to spend a few grands on HDs besides the NAS for upgrade.
The speed of Drobo is acceptable for backing up photos. If it can go fatser, it's great, but safty and compatbility comes first.
I agree, it definitely has it's uses, and I am considering it for a backup to my primary NAS, but I was referring to the comment about going to the Drobo-Pro.. At that price range I think you can go to any of them (NAS or Synology), and was curious what your reasons were. Not judging at all, just didn't know if their Pro unit was comparable or not.
