Not sure what size you are looking for but i just got this one for just under 1100 delivered ( will get a 5% cash back rebate which you can get from any "rebate site" and also 40.00 statement credit for signing up for an hp account and 12months no interest) . Still waiting for it to arrive so i don't have personal experience with it but for what i have been reading it should do great with most games.

A Macbook won't work for games. Processor doesn't cut it, and neither does the 256MB integrated graphics. Really, no laptop will work wonderfully for gaming. My roommate a few years ago got a graduation present from his dad; a $3,500 gaming laptop. I, on the other hand, bought myself a $650 desktop I got through a deal here on slickdeals, plus a Macbook that I got for $800. By the time I was moving out, my roommate had wished he had done the same thing as me. My laptop was more portable than his, and my desktop was much much better than his computer for games, even without considering the video card upgrade I did 3 years later, and a desktop monitor beats the pants off of a laptop screen, both for size and for colors. The things that make a laptop good for gaming make it very very expensive, and they also make it bad for being a laptop. It will be large and heavy, run hot, have short battery life, etc.

Are you a senior in high school just about to graduate? I'm asking because I'm curious as to how soon you need this laptop. School is just ending now, so chances are you won't need this laptop over the summer, right? Every 3 months you can wait, you get a computer that is that much better, especially considering the exponential growth of laptops and that the new Intel architecture was just released. Go read the sticky titled "Read me BEFORE asking for help" and follow the instructions. Let us know if you have any brand preferences, screen size, etc. $1,000 can definitely get you something nice, especially if you shop smart.
If you needed one today, this should be your benchmark: http://slickdeals.net/f/4336596-G...b-notebook |

Also, a Macbook is a UNIX-based OS, so you can work on the UNIX side and have full compatibility with respect to hardware or programs. One minute, I could be in terminal, issuing sudo commands and installing specific packages, and a quick command-tab later, I can be in Microsoft Office or Photoshop CS5/Lightroom. No need to worry about hardware compatibility or writing my own drivers, or partitioning my hard drive around so that I can dual-boot. |

i bought this for 999.99+tax at local bestbuy store. All store in NY has this model under same price. I don't know where you live but the laptop is rly awesome so I think it's worth a trip to your local bestbuy. see if they have the model under that price. model name is G74SX-BBK9. |
