Straight Talk's $180 Android Phone Uses Verizon Towers
At least that is what Phonenews says:
http://www.phonenews.c om/samsung-...ent-20264/
Plus, if you use a zip code that Straight Talk classifies as Verizon-only (due to lack of coverage from other towers), the Proclaim shows up. According to the article:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Proclaim is a midrange offering featuring the following specifications:
1GHz Processor
5 Home Screens
Android Gingerbread
microSD slot with pre-installed 2GB card
3.5 inch HVGA resolution touch display
Bluetooth/Wi-Fi/A-GPS
3.0 megapixel camera with video capture
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-So if this is true, you can get Verizon non-roaming and 3g speeds (like Page Plus) using either the $45/month Unlimited Plan or the $60/month Unlimited Plan that includes international calling.
-Note the article says 4g/month data allotment. I would not count on that until there is confirmation from users.
-No, you cannot use any other Verizon phone. You must purchase the Samsung Galaxy Proclaim for this service if you want Verizon coverage.
-Everything should work out out the box, so no need to mess around with any device settings. That is good news because Straight Talk is not known for great customer service as they are outsourced.
