Canon, on the website, has it listed as "Lens Hood LH-DC60" -- any cheaper alternative than having to spend $25? |

As with all camera gear, I always say wait and see. It depends on what and how you shoot. There are some generic ones on the bay for <$4 f/s. It would probably be good enough to see how often you might need it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Brand-New...143wt_1357
Camera gear can be very addicting, and the more you read online the more NAS/CAS (Nikon/Canon Acquisition Syndrome) symptoms start to develop. Cameras are only a tool and the more you learn how to use it, the better results you will have.. I started out thinking $100 lens was a ton of money, now I have a $1000 lens (of course I scored it cheap), but sometimes I start thinking hmmm, that lens is only 3K. Then I have to take a breath and realize that I can't drive a camera or a lens to work, and my landlord wouldn't think it would be to cool if I skipped rent for a couple of months to buy a lens.. |

Well, I got nothing like king's deal above
; BUT at least I got one. The Staples in Austin were out of stock except for one display model. Sooooo...it was off to Office Depot, coupon in hand, to see what they might do. From the $349 price, 20% was taken off to match the Staples coupon and their 'package' included the memory card and a case(more tangible but less costly than the Service Plan deal from Staples). All in all, with the challenge of actually finding one in stock, I'm pleased with the deal. I don't feel REALLY slick, but slippery enough Tomorrow,.DW will take some pictures of our new owl family that has recently occupied the owl house I built three years ago.

They only had one left at my Staples. I priced matched at Fry's $299 price then used the 20% of canon coupon to get it for $240. I also got the 8gb card and extended warranty ($12 and $25) and then I'll need to mail in the rebate to get the prepaid visa cards. So for $277 I got the camera, memory card, extended warranty and the $37 prepaid visa (via rebate). Not too shabby. The clerk checked with her manager on the price match and he said she had to verify with Fry's over the phone that the camera was in stock. I told her they were out but would give out a rain check. She whispered to me that she'd just pretend she called. So i didn't want to push the $25 of $75 with the manager close by. Only downside is I have to charge the dang battery before I can start playing with it...

Excellent
I was able to find this camera at the Glenview, Illinois store. They took the 20% off coupon and the $25 off of $75 coupon. I also had the Frys newspaper ad and they price matched the $299 price. All told, camera, SD card and 2 year warranty cost me around $235 with tax. Great deal!!! Thank you, everyone who posted. This is exactly what I wanted to get my wife for Mother's Day.

Thanks OP. I've been eyeing up this camera for a while. Great upgrade from my Canon S3IS. I used the 20% coupon and the $25 off $75. I tried the cart print out and got no where. She studied it and compared to the flier and informed me the instore price was already discounted the $64.00. DOH!
Another thread mentions Sams Club has this for $269. Will Staples price match Sams Club even after a purchase? |

I've been looking at the FZ150 but for this price can't justify spending $500 vs. $213 for a close equivalent. |

Got a SX150 @ Somerville, NJ store. 149 - 20% - 25of75 + 8GB Card + Extended Warranty = 142 out of the door.
Rebates to be processed: $13 for SD card , $25 for Warranty. Total Cost = 104 Why I bought this camera: I have its great great grand father A520 ... and have been thinking of buying a DSLR for some time. I am not able to decide between a DSLR and a new Mirrorless System Cameras, so for the mean time go this. SX230 was also available.... but did not see the point in spending an extra $50 for a backup camera. Well … next steps … install CHDK and get some new eneloops … I already have a BC700 charger … All in all good deal. PS: Stapes at South Plainfields NJ sucks. They always deny extrem coupons. |
