iBirds (competition to Audubon Birds) at iTunes for 99 cents, normally $29.99
I have had this for a while and I prefer it over the Audubon Bird app. It is only 99 cents today (probably competing with the Audubon Birds and Butterflies at 99 cents)http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/ib...18823?mt=8 I agree with this review: "Without a doubt the BEST app available for bird lovers. Nice. I got Audubon for a buck last time. Not I got this. However, neither app has answered the real questions I have about birds.
Which birds can beat a ninja? Which are best for fighting zombies? Can birds be vampires? |

This is an outstanding app.
Worth it even at $30 - it essentially has the content of a dozen field guides, plus things like bird calls which you can't get in a field guide. Drawings, photos, behavior, maps, tons of stuff. |

I agree. I love the bird calls. I use them to "talk" to the live birds. Sometimes they come closer to check me out.

I'm stupid. I don't have an iPhone or an iPad but bought this anyway, thinking I could somehow use it on my PC. It seems I can't.

If you purchase iBirds and the peterson's birds of north America you will have everything you need for birding with your iPhone. IBirds is great for finding a bird's call quickly and peterson's is great to have similarly looking birds on the same page. Petersons also has a great sighting diary to record what you see in the field All I need is is my binoculars and iPhone and I am set for a great day of birding. Both are still on sale for 99 cents each.
