Quick vegas hotel question

I don't like either hotel, but I would choose Imperial Palace of the two for 1) Better location and 2) to save $100

Imperial palace in middle of strip is better.

I would avoid both places.

There's also been a lot of construction around imperial palace but that may not be the case by the time you stay there or it may not matter to you.

If you're just looking for a good location with a shower and a bed then save the $100 and stay at IP.

Excalibur is gonna have more kids and it's more down-at-one-end-of-the-strip-ish

and it's vegas, you're probably not gonna in the room much.

I stayed 7 nights at the Imperial Palace last fall -- tipped the check-in lady $20 and got a suite for a week. The suite wasn't incredible -- and the IP in general is far from incredible -- but it's a great value. It's got an awesome location, it's right on the monorail, the Dealertainers are fun to come back to when you stumble back to the hotel at night, and Hash House A-Go-Go is a MUST. Also, if you like motown even a little bit, go see Human Nature while they're till cheap and in a small theater.

Oh, and you couldn't pay ME to stay at Excalibur. Way too many little kids running around. I wouldn't stay in Excalibur if it was $100 LESS than the IP. For more? You've gotta be kidding.

Like someone else said, if you're spending enough time in your room in Las Vegas for it to matter, you're doing something wrong.....or you're doing something illegal.

I hear this all the time from people who stay in dumpy places. I wouldn't want to spend much time in my room if I stayed in a place like IP either.

I stay at either the Wynn/Encore or Palazzo. I actually enjoy taking long showers and lounging about my room. It gives me a chance to relax before hitting the tables, shows and fancy dinners.

Come on now, you're in VEGAS! You should only be in your rooms to sleep. I've stayed at the Imperial Palace to the Bellagio... and IP is very cheap and perfect since its in the MIDDLE of the strip. Go with IP... You can always do the $20 trick and get upgraded for free

lol --well, I take a long shower and lounge at home -- I don't go to Las Vegas (or any hotel for that matter) to do that. To me, it's like paying $150 a day to rent clothes. I have clothes. It's not that I can't pay $150 a day to rent them......it just seems stupid to pay for something I already have. That's the way I look at an expensive hotel room -- especially in a city like Vegas. I'd rather take the extra $150 a night I'd spend on a place like Wynn or Palazzo and put it into a poker tournament or a show or a nice dinner or a helicopter tour of the grand Canyon.....or all of the above over the course of 3 or 4 days with what I'd save.

That said, I'm never against luxury if it comes at a budget price. I just wouldn't waste my money on a luxury hotel room -- especially not in a city like Las Vegas where most of us aren't going for rest and relaxation.

Ok. Thanks everybody for your responses. One more question. Should i spend an extra $20 to book an extra day because my flight leaves at 5:20 and check out is at 11:00

Extra $150/night? You can regularly get the Palazzo for $129/night. (I'll concede that the Wynn is a bit more)

Typically I am comped at the hotels though.
