I have this unit. I really recommend against it. It's fine for taking notes in class, but when I try to browse the web and keep multiple windows open (which this unit *should* have no problem with), it really starts to show the failings of the processor. Surprising considering a full 4gb of RAM and decent graphics.

I have this unit as well. I am surprisingly impressed. I am usually VERY against Acer but for $250 you can not go wrong. Mine is the Costco 500GB HD as the only difference.

It is, what it is. If it seems a little slow its a netbook for $250. Yes my DM4 with an i5 is faster, but I have seen my netbook play WoW, while listening to music while running 2 windows of Mozilla (3-4 tabs each), 1 window of Chrome and Microsoft Word open. It is by no means waiting 5+ seconds, but there is a couple seconds difference. This was all on the battery, not plugged in.

For the money, highly recommend this unit (but I also recommend some changes previous threads mention). However, if your budget can afford $100-$150, try to find the Dell 14 inch i3 in your local store for $350 or go for an i3. If you want a cheap, functional, very portable (I still get 7+ hours of battery life if browsing web, Word, easy tasks) get this netbook.

This unit is a MUCH better option for the money over any Atom powered machine. I have the older version with C-50 and considering everything you get: 4 GB of RAM, HDMI and VGA... its a great deal if you are looking for a portable movie watching/projecting/emailchecking machine.

my $200 Target c-50 acer i got 7/17 last year is still going strong!

however this model laptop is pretty old by computer standards, and new amd apus are around the corner which leads to pricedrops... so this netbook should cost no more than $225 imo

That's a huge surprise. My Lenovo S10-2 had no problem with multiple windows (not including sites with HD video), and it only had an Atom 270 in it. This C-60 should be great with web browsing...

When you say it "show[s] the failings," does that mean it slows to a trickle or just that it lags behind what you'd prefer?

i bought this last week at staples for 275 with the 25$ off 75$ coupon, its been great so far. I'm really impressed by how fast and responsive it is. there are a ton of other netbooks out in this price range, but even at best buy, the most they have is 2 gig of ram. I use my i5 at home, but when im at work or on the go, its a nice little machine.

You would, think? I've been selling computers for years now and I expected much better from this unit. I'm very understanding that this unit would not meet my primary computing expectations, but even then, it was (it's being returned) disappointing.

Observation: Open Programs (Chrome [including YouTube], Word). Open Windows (including Chrome tabs) 1-4, no problem. Generally anything past the fifth open instance (eg. Word (1), Chrome (2-5)) will start to lag.

Yes, it does get warmer than I would expect on a netbook category unit.

mine doesnt run hot whatsoever. I'm wondering if that issue only affected certain batches?
