Been a firefighter for 17 years and an instructor for 9 years. We use class B foam based extinguishing agents all the time on fuel fires and class A foams to mop up wildland fires. It is a very very effective agent. There are many class B foams on the market. But this is the first time I have seen a mix available in such a small package. Firefighting foams are effective in two ways. 1. In class A fires, paper, hay, wood, etc., they help break water tension and allow the water to penetrate the product that is on fire and put it out. 2. It creates a sealing blanket on top of liquid fuel fires and prevents the fuel vapors from escaping and igniting.

In reality the best way to put out a grease fire without creating a big mess is to just cover it with a lid. However if it fairly big this is a dangerous approach and much safer to use a little guy like this extinguisher. I'm in for a pack of them. One for the pop up camper and one for the kitchen. I still will keep my 2A40BC dry chem extinguishers with them though. But for small grease fires these extinguishers look like they fit the bill.
