Pet Food Recall - Salmonella Outbreak

They forgot to mention anything about the origin of the affected food (most likely China).

There are probably MANY people, such as myself, who didn't catch the first post, so I for one sincerely APPRECIATE the repost. Although my dog's food is not in the recall, I think it's great that there are people out there who care enough to take the time to let us know about it.

Too bad there aren't MORE considerate people out there, instead of those who have nothing better to do than whine and complain about "reposts" and posts being in the wrong forum. Get a life.

I'll bet you have a much different attitude when someone puts up pictures of their cat in a dog thread. Yes, sometimes something is so important that it can go on the Hot Deal forums without much of a fuss. That happened yesterday.

They have specific places on SD for this kind of thing. Just because you never go there, it's not our fault. Maybe you should take some time out on that life you think you have and set up some filters...

And I've been here since 6/07, have 543 posts - you've been here since 11/9 and have 1,427. Seems to me that YOU'RE the one that thinks they have a life by the amount of time you spend here. No wonder you have time to post in every forum on sd. Must be nice.

I mentioned the "life" part because you, of course, felt that you had to add such an original comment to the conversation.

If most of your posts are similar to the ones in this thread, it's probably better off that you've made so few of them. I'd look into the filter, if I were you. Then you wouldn't miss such urgent news like "pet food recall" the first time it comes around.

Sorry if this has been said already - but the recall only pertains to the east coast. I think the midwest/southwest/west coast have a different Diamond factory.

Yes, I think this recall is important, but everyone should remember that these things happen to EVERY dog food company at one time or another (iams, eukanuba, blue buffalo, merrick, etc.). I don't think this needs to be a witch hunt is all I'm saying. The most important part of course is that your four legged babies are safe, and also that you are safe after handling their food.

I will continue to buy kirkland food though - because it is super-premium food at a price that even a veterinary technician can afford to feed.


How to Know If You Have a Recalled Product:

If your pet food has been recalled, the production codes on the back of bags will have both a number “3” in the 10th digit and an “X” in the 11th digit.

The best before dates for the recalled brands listed are December 9, 2012 through January 31, 2013.
