Yes, SSL is included. Newdemon/NGD are both highswinds resellers so whatever errors you get with newsdemon, you'll probably get with NDG. I'd cancel with Newsdemon and get this, save money. I have unlimited with NGD, no problems really. But I have a backup block server from blocknews, if you want to limit incompletes always get a backup server. Blocknews has saved many downloads that would have otherwise not completed for me.

Whatever speed you pay for from your ISP is what you will get pretty much. My basic Comcast internet connection maxes out at 1.9 MB/sec and that is what I get downloading using NGD. Just go to speedtest.net and choose the closest server to test your speeds and see what they are, that is what you should get downloading from usenet.

You are missing a whole bunch Just do a search here on SD with the word "usenet" and read through the threads. This probably isn't for you, usenet is now used mostly for sharing/downloading files. Someone uploads it to usenet, everybody else downloads it.

Some plans are capped, but based on what you said appears this one isn't.

Is this better than newshosting? My one year expires this month and i paid $99 for the whole year.

No, you can't have 2 different IP's downloading at the same time or they will cut you off. If you're wanting to share it with somebody, the best thing to do is probably setup days with your friend that he downloads on and days you download on or something like that. But chances are someone will forget and you'll both download something at the same time and then your account with be banned or warned, not sure what they do first.

I'm signing up, I have been on the fence about getting a usenet account for some time, and figured I might as well make the plunge.

How is this vs the $5 plan Thundernews runs each year? Any reason not to swap over when Black Friday rolls around again?

Newshosting is highwinds reseller as well, so about the same level of service. I would go with this NGD deal, it's cheaper.

I don't have any problems with NGD even though they resell highwinds. I use nzbmatrix and download old and new media files all the time and never get problems. I had a couple of incompletions before I added a backup server. Just get a block from a different provider that doesn't resell highwinds like blocknews or something and set that as your backup server. If you're downloading something and it can't find some of the files on your primary server it will switch to your backup(s) to try and find the missing files.

I can't stress it enough when people complain about incompletions...BACKUP SERVER...BACKUP SERVER..... You can get a free backup server from xsusenet as well but it only has 400 day retention or so and 25GB limit but it is a backup server only so the GB limit is fine. I would still buy a small block from blocknews though to use as a backup server.
