Yes, a block plan is what most people should go for. NGD also runs their $40 for 1.1TB deal every month or so as well. Everybody should calculate how much you plan to download every month, a block plan will probably be the most cost effective.

I've tried a similar pricing promotion from NewsDemon for $6/month, but the retention sucks there. Their newsreader is definitely not user friendly and has a shitty interface imo. I'm still sticking with NewsHosting and paying a few dollars more for their proprietary NewsHosting newsreader along with my newsleecher software. Can't really beat it for fast searches and DLs.

I see Astraweb users complaining all the time of missing files in comment sections of NZB's I download. Best thing to do with usenet is to have backup servers.

Right now my problem is trying to find out the best way to backup the TB's of media I have, everything is on external USB hard drives and if one of them dies, I'm up shit creek. I'm looking at FlexRAID/UnRAID/SnapRAID (free) to protect all of my data. Unraid is very popular but I don't like that it uses that ReiserFS and is a linux based OS. I started a thread on FleRAID over at avsforum and it's now 7 pages long, alot of good comments and the developer even saw it and posted comments in the thread.

I have the cube net and they use highwinds just like NGD but I notice NGD advertises 1360+ retention but cube says 1341+ retention. They use the same backbone so how in the world do I find out the actual retention?

Ya know, you're right. I don't use nearly close to that, and some months I don't use any at all. May as well go with the bulk download and save myself some money.

Just canceled with Newsdemon, going to pick up the Astraweb 1000GB tonight. Hopefully they have been retention.

You're using the usenet providers suggested newsreader???....yuck. Newsleecher is okay, but ditch the supersearch. Thank me after you do this....go download Sabnzbd or Alt.Binz or both and see which one you like. Then go to nzbmatrix and signup and click around. If you like it then pay the $11 or so and you'll become a VIP member for 10 years.

The features that nzmatrix has for what you pay is 100% worth the price. Hell, the comments alone that people leave for files is worth it alone. The last episode of Game of Thrones was fubared and tons of people left comments letting everybody else know. One of the releases for the episode before that had almost 300 comments Comments alone have saved me from downloading tons of shitty releases/encodes, all for just $11, totally worth it to me. Just so you know it's not $11 a year, $11 buys you 10 years.
