If I'm using SABnzbd, do I enter both my urlhasbeenblocked and xusenet server information in? I'm not sure how to set the priority so that it only downloads from urlhasbeenblocked, and when it can't, then it turns to xusenet so that my bandwidth limit doesn't get reached.
On the Servers page in SABnzbd select "Backup Server" in the xsusenet group (you want it enabled too).
Unscrupulous.....me....nawwwwwwww Not my fault Astraweb's 3rd party billing agency or whatever they use sucked. The trick was to buy one of those prepaid debit visa gift cards from Walmart or wherever and then use it to pay for your 1st month of Astraweb service. Then use up the balance on the gift card so that there is nothing left and when the next month rolls around and Astraweb tries charging you again, their system would send you an e-mail reporting that it couldn't bill you. The thing was, even though they couldn't re-bill you, they never stopped your service until last month or so when they finally fixed it.
It's a good deal, not the best deal though if we're talking strictly storage space. NGD runs a deal every month just about where you can buy 1.1TB for $40. Just do a search on here to look at previous deals. But the 1TB for $50 from Astraweb is probably your best choice since people say Astraweb doesn't have as many incompletions/missing files as highwinds resellers like NGD. I don't have a problem with NGD since I have backup servers.
Glad to help.
For $50, is Astraweb the best overall solution? Would I be better off waiting for the $40 NGD deal and be able to find a backup block server for less or equal to $10?
Gigahertz21 free backup overseas backup server idea is pretty good too. Gonna do that as well.
Hm... any suggestions for a good "free" overseas backup server?
I have had both they are the same but different name
If they are in fact the same then i can recommend them. I have thundernews and have had it for over a year i pay $5 a month and i have blocknews as a backup. so far ive only used 1GB of my 100gb block account. usually get all the files i need so totally recommend this if they are the same. and also use this http://xsusenet.com/ for a free block account
i like the built in search even if it does cost $25/yr... i have used the binsearch to generate nzb's but, for me, the search is easier to use for narrowing down and eliminating results.
I used to then i moved to newzbinz now im only http://sabnzbd.org/ as there is so many addons how awesome is it to check the status on your android phone? and works great with sickbeard couchpotatoe etc. and is fast! i wouldnt go back to the others! but that's just me.
kind of off-topic. How does everyone get around the 250gb monthly download limit by comcast?
Download only what you really want. Try to pick the lowest quality that will work for you. Do you really need that 40Gb+ Blu-Ray image or will a compressed 7Gb version work? Use an indexer like Nzbmatrix and read the comments before downloading. If a file is bad (missing blocks, passworded, out of sync, etc.), the comments will appear pretty quickly.
Is this better than newshosting? My one year expires this month and i paid $99 for the whole year.
Wondering this as well. I switched over from Astraweb to Newshosting and I'm pretty happy with them. I'd hate to cancel and go to something else that doesn't have as good of a retention or deletes files faster...
