$1.48 remaining in my prepaid card
Hey guys! I have a prepaid card with $1.48 remaining. The problem is, everytime I try to swipe it it will get denied. I have tried to buy $1.48 and $1.47 Amazon gift cards and to no avail. Does anybody know the best way to spend the remaining $1.48 on my prepaid gift card?It is a gift card from citi and it is non-reloadable. EDIT: I tried buying a $0.48 gift card and it still doesn't work (in case Amazon is charging a $1 authorization thing) Last edited by BadWolfAndy; 05-08-2012 at 10:56 PM.. |

I have had the same issue. I recommend going to a local store (any retail store in general) get some items to buy and when your going to pay ask the cash register that you have the ex amount of funds in your card (she puts the exact amount on the computer) which is $1.48 and it should go through with no problem. I also had the same issue with some prepaid cards with pocket change.
just being slick

The new registers at Walgreens -- no idea if the old registers did -- also automagically take the remaining funds off the card if the payment due is greater than the balance on the card and then prompt for another payment . |

I know several of the grocery stores here now have gone to a new system where let's say you have $5.00 left on the pre-paid gift card and you want to use it up. The register will automatically apply the balance of your pre-paid Visa or Mastercard gift card and then whatever you owe will then come up without having to worry about getting declined if you don't let the cashier know up front how much you have left on the pre-paid credit card. So much easier as sometimes you don't know the exact amount left. I hope more retailers go to this system as it makes things so much easier and hope online retailers will eventually go this route if they haven't done so already.

Avoid having to deal with pennys on a gift card... I usually goto Wally-mart and buy crap for the entire GC amount. Walk up to counter.. say you dont want it.
Wally return counter cashiers are generally high school dropouts or look like trailer trash mommies.. they just dont wanna go through the hassles of loadeing a prepaid GC. Result.. here's your cash.. have a nice day and thanks for shopping at Walmart!

I've used them up at Aldi's. Just tell the cashier the exact balance left on the card like $1.27, she keys it in and you can pay your balance in cash or with another debit card.
Have I mentioned I hate Windows 8 today? I hate it. Don't like the new Yahoo mail either. Never give up, never surrender! |
