Good deal. I have a tire shop in LA that will get me the Hankook Ventus V12's I want for cheap so I'll pass on this. Plus I can submit my $80 rebate through them anyway so I'll end up saving $100 or so (since Discount Tire centers ream you for installation).

I liked it better when it was an instant rebate!

ETA: Yup, they're jacked up. I've emailed them 3 times about a lower price bc they say they will beat any price. And they want me to call in and order it over the phone., they won't lower the prices online.

I think Discount Tire makes up their pricing as they go, you can usually get a $100 off just by asking

He's probably talking about 7 Dias Tires off of Western and Pico (maybe Venice). You can look it up on Yelp reviews. In and out in a jiffy. Call ahead to see if they have the tires in stock and they'll quote you the price out the door. I paid something like $168 per tire mounted, balance and tax when TireRack wanted $190 with nothing.

It's a korean place but don't sweat the language barrier. They get by.

Another time they did the $100 rebate I called to ask about road hazard etc and they offered me the $100 off up front.

FWIW, the Continental Extreme DWS was a very good buy last month with the $100 rebate. Highly recommended, but check around for mount & balance pricing in your area before you commit. Prices vary dramatically depending upon the shop, tire size and type of rim.

I have nothing but good things to say about Discount Tire. I always buy the warranty and the free lifetime rotation/balance is nice.

Times when I haven't bought the tires there (when we have bought a new vehicle) I always take it there right away and pay $100-$125 for lifetime rotation/balance/warranty.

I have had the precisely opposite experience as you. My Discount Tire shops has always gone out of their way to give me free rotations and inflation even when the tires are not theirs! I had a flat and they repaired someone else's tire for $20 but gave me $20 store credit to use the next time I buy tires from them, essentially a free repairs. In the San Diego County, they are the best. I have purchase about 24 tires from them in the past 7 years, including for friends and family. Express Tire on the other hand is the worst IMO, they are always shady - trying to up sell repairs and maintenance that I don't need.

Oh, their rebates are straight forward via the website. I received mine within 4 weeks.

walmart may have great value, but i read a lot of reviews where people claim walmart scratched their wheels when mounting the tire on.
