Seagate reduced the warranty period on these drives from 3 years to 1 year at the beginning of the year.

If these are older models (which would be indicated by the 5900 rotation speed), they might or might not fall under the older warranty terms.

I'm not sure how Seagate is handling that.

I do know that if Seagate is only honoring the one year, that I would go for one of newer models. 1 TB platters, so you have fewer platters in drive and higher average transfer rates.

Great drives, one died about a month ago unfortunately. I found out that Micro Center had sold me a pre-owned return drive pre-packaged as new. Probably had issues when I bought it.
