Netflix banned my Dad's account

So I just found out from my Dad that netflix won't let him reactivate his account; the reason: multiple accounts being linked to his account/address. When I lived at home I opened multiple free trial accounts. They said that the only way they would reopen the account is if my Dad gets the police involved to pursue me. Does anyone have any experience with this??? Banned netflix account for opening multiple free trial accounts??? I feel bad that I inconvenienced my Dad. I tried calling Netflix today to explain to them that I was the one who opened the accounts and have since moved away, but to no avail. Any thoughts

I am also wondering what kind of legal action they can take against me?

I know at least one other person here has been banned by Netflix for that... dunno what you can do.

If you were living with your dad and your dad already had an account, why would you need to open other trial accounts?

Tell him to move.

And no, I don't think there's any legal action they can take against you. If there were, I would imagine they would have used it on me years ago.

Tell him to try Hulu Plus. That's what I use now. Same price!

Back in the day they used to give prizes for completing offers(they probably still do it but it is much more difficult these day's); TV's, iPods, computers, etc. For each prize I would open a new netflix account. I was young and naive.

Did you ever try writing the president of Netflix? My Dad said that he would go that route since nothing else was working. Do you think there is a possibility that they would allow him to reopen his account if he writes them?

No, I didn't. If he wants it that bad, I suppose he can write them a letter. Worst they can do is say no, and you're still in the same place. Given how ridiculous they are, I doubt it will do any good. Try filing a complaint with the BBB. I would bet that would get a better response than a letter.


TBH, I think it's pretty asinine that they want him to get police involved to pursue his own son. There are some serious nutters working for that company.

I had no idea you could get in trouble for too many accounts. I would think they'd be busy going after all the account sharers. I share with my immediate family, which I guess is typical. I have a coworker on a typically very slow unit at work (peds oncology- always a good area to be slow) that left her login info on a post it note on a desk for anyone bored to use.

So, what if he opens an account in your mom's name, with "Apt 1" after the street address?

Yeah...what would happen if they moved and the new people wanted netflix? They would have to use that address right? Would using a different credit card under your mom's name work? And as far as address...I guess you could really use a family members (one that does not have netflix already).
