Also the A6 is a great APU, but people should really youtube kstat10 and download it so they can overclock for serious performance gains and/or underclock it for extended battery life. I really do not see how someone can say these are not good for gaming when they can run Skyrim, Deus Ex, Dead Island, LoL, Mass Effect 2 & 3, Kingdoms of Amalur, etc. on Medium to High settings with decent FPS of 30-60 from my experiences (in other words they can pump out graphics better than a 360 or PS3 can). |

So Andatec states the AMD's A8-3850 up to 26% Faster than A6-3650. http://www.anandtech.com/show/466...han-a63650 I know you have one and you think it is not that much faster because YOU FEEL THAT WAY... but it is. AND you should NEVER OC a laptop, the cooling is not designed for it and you can overheat and ruin a chip on your mobo (such as the north or south bridge) and then your laptop becomes a paper weight. ALSO, when you OC a CPU you should also adjust the memory timing... and this is not OCable on a laptop such as this one. Again... AN A8 PLAYS GAMES 25% FASTER THEN A A6. |

As for overclocking on these, you have tons of room for stable performance without added heat, and yes these laptops are made to deal with the heat as they are all ready overclocking themselves when demand is need. Sure someone could screw up there laptop just as someone can screw up a desktop by overclocking but using a bit of common sense to get a stable one can go a long ways. Also there is never a need to adjust the memory timings and nowadays it really does not help to mess with them as the performance gains are insignificant. Again, it does not play games 25% faster, games that are more CPU intensive will only see the slightest jump (1 or 2 fps) and other games typically see a 5-10% performance boost. |

I currently own and use this laptop. I think its great although its not for everybody. I'm in school and it works great for what I use it for. I don't have to move it much but when I do, it's relatively light for a 17 incher and fits in my big backpack. The processor is fast enough for what I do and the graphics are good enough to take a gaming break every now and again. The blu-ray drive is a good setup too. I don't have to buy a dedicated blu-ray player for my HDTV and I can just plug it into an HDTV when I'm at somebody else's apartment.

First off the laptops ARE NOT MADE TO DEAL WITH HEAT VERY WELL. That is why there is a whole industry selling LAPTOP COOLERS. The computer does not come OCed... the CPU has a turbo feature but that is WITHIN SPECS of the manufacture. I have built my own Desktop... chose the MOBO, chose the RAM, etc... AND CHOSE THE HEATSINK AND FANS... You have NO CHOOSES when you buy a laptop. And if you fry a component... you can buy that component CHEAP... how much do you think a new mobo is for this laptop (I will guess... close to $250). Have you ever changed a mobo from a laptop... not as easy as a desktop. And again... Andatec stated a 26% increase!!! |

No you didn't, you made it sound like the 17" Lenovo's were at that price when replying to grayarea and they aren't. That's why I said you never saw a 17" at that price. If you had clarified that you were talking about 15.6" in the first place, you wouldn't have heard a peep out of me. |
