Thanks for the info. I figured there would be a catch. I ordered this phone yesterday as a new customer for $149.99 but signed up for just 2GB data. Doesn't look like i'd qualify for free phone weekend promo

Can you specifically give me a little more details of your account? How do you get it so low?

My brother's line isn't out of contract yet and I don't know if he called and threatened to cancel once his contract is up or what but he's had phone problems lately and was given a Samsung Exhibit I for a free replacement and so now he negotiated with them and got the One S for free, not sure what he said but it worked.

yeah t-mobile is very hit or miss with their customer service. some people will hook u up and others flat out won't.

as for the one s... i'm thinking about trading my htc x515/gsm evo3d but i'm not sure if i should it has sense 4.0 and 3d

Did the same thing last week with T-Mobile. The Rep offered the phone for $199. But will credit $200 afterward. So, the phone is free. If I upgrade 2 phones. The Credit is $450. No upgrade fee. Data is $20 with first 5GB at 4G instead of the 2GB of 4G. Think it's a great deal.

You are comparing Apples to Oranges, since you never had data to begin with. For most people with smartphones, they are paying for the data already anyway.

That is not an accurate statement at all...the HTC One S is an international version compared to the HTC One X which is a carrier specific version for ATT. The international HTC One X has a Tegra chip as the ATT version has the snapdragon chip. This means that development is going to be weak for the ATT version of the HTC One X and will more then likely go the same route as the Samsung S2 on TMO that used a different chip, barely any development and the phone never took off for TMO.

and here is the ATT version http://forum.xda-developers.com/f...538...huge difference in amount of development effort going on. I think it was a huge fail for ATT to push out their own version of the HTC One X.

Overall if you want updated roms, and constant development your better choice would actually be the HTC One S from TMO as it is the same as the international version.

Additionally if you look at any of the comparison reports for between the One X and One S you will see the S beats out the X on most test, and or is equal.

IMO it would have been a bigger fail if they released a new phone without LTE support.

Dev support will continue to increase, especially considering AT&T is in the Top 2 for subscriber base in the States. Their Android lineup has been rather sparse, so until the next Google Nexus device arrives only the One X, GSIII, and Note will be worth developing for in 2012.

Plus the international One X got released a month before the AT&T one that arrived just 4 days ago.

ATT Lte is pretty fast, I get 3mb/s down

I'm in the "waiting for the GS3 camp" as well. My contract runs out in August, the iPhone 5 should be announced by then, and looking at Sprint as well as the rest. I like the One S, but I can wait.

You forget. at&t is the worst carrier of them all. Of course they would do this. They even managed to change the physical design of the HTC One X, like using cheap plastic for the camera ring instead of aluminium on the international HTC One X.

You buy an at&t branded device, you get at&t's shit. I like that T-Mobile stays as true to the global variants as they possibly can.
