Valley National Bank is offering a $150 bonus for opening a Perfect Checking account.

If you open a checking account with Valley National Bank, you get $75 when you sign up for mobile banking, and an additional $75 when you enroll in online bill pay or start a monthly direct deposit. You must do this within 60 days of opening the account, and the money will appear within 90 days.

Must open with at least 100 opening deposit to qualify. Bolded important parts of T&C below. Looks like CT, NJ, NY, PA only from application page.

To qualify for $150 Checking Promotion, open a qualifying checking account with a minimum deposit of $100 and receive $75 cash reward when you sign up for Mobile Banking and $75 when you initiate a monthly direct deposit such as a payroll, pension, Social Security or other government benefits or by enrolling in online banking and completing three merchant bill payments. The required mobile banking, first direct deposit and bill pay transactions must be completed within the first 60 days of account opening to qualify. Cash rewards will be credited within 90 days of account opening and may be reportable as taxable income. Cash rewards offered to new checking customers only. Products limited to one per consumer, two per household. Funds deposited must be new money from another financial institution. See a representative for qualifying checking accounts, complete terms and conditions.

Couple of questions..
1. Is there a hard pull when opening an account?

2. How long do I have to maintain the account before closing?

3. How long did it take you to get the bonus?

4. So, instead of DD, I can just buy a cheap item on Amazon via 3 different transactions and it would suffice?

You have 60 days, so you're better off just buying stuff that you actually want/need. There aren't too many things on Amazon that are <$1 and free shipping.

I don't see PA as one of the states only NY and NJ. Can I still open an acct. I am in PA

I did this promotion in Nov and paid 3 online bills for utility $10 each and logged on my account through iPod browser..
I got the promotion in next month.

and yes.. they do use checksystems and pull your history. Not sure if it is considered as hard pull or soft.

Under "Account Funding Options For New Valley Customers" they just have a box for your social security number. Also, does anyone see anything about an early closing fee? Inbranch visit required?

I just applied from PA only to be told at the end:

To open your new Perfect Checking account, visit your local Valley National Bank branch with your $0.00 deposit check to open your account, and remember to bring your valid photo driver's license or passport for each person signing the application.

They only had branches in NY and NJ to choose from. I can't make the trip.

Anyone have feedback or advice on this? Anyone do the previous deal?
