Is this in the local Sam's sales circular? I got it for $349 at staples before coupons and hopefully can pricematch with Sams if the sales flyer shows this camera on sale for $269

Thanks OP! I picked up 1 in Flint, Michigan. I usually don't call on Slickdeals, but I did call to find out how many they had in stock at my local sams, at the time I called (4PM) they had 7.

Long Story (Short version):

I don't have a sams card, so I had my mom get me the complimentary house card since my ID still has my old address on it. Got the card, got the slip for the camera, went up to pay and I totally forgot they don't take VISA. Went over to the customer service desk and applied for a Sams/Walmart Credit Card and got approved. YMMV: At my local sams they have a current thing going that if you are approved for a Sams charge you get $20 off of your first purchase of $50 or more! So I ended up getting the camera for 249.99 +Tax so around 265.14 out the door.

I really wanted the Panasonic FZ150, but damn I got this camera for about $200 less.

Good price. I'd consider buying it if I had not bought a newKodak Z990 for $200 - 30% (deal now dead). A refurb Kodak Z990 is still availabe from BensOutlet for $140 for those not willing to spend more on the Canon. I was surprised by the good user reviews of the Kodak [dpreview.com]camera at one or more camera forums. At the time of the postings they thought it was a good deal for about $250 when compare to much more expensive cameras. The Kodak share some components with these more expensive cameras.

So if you don't have the money for the Canon, consider the Kodac Z990. There are a few complaints about the Z990 in the forums but given the price, I think many can live with the shortcomings. It is not my primary camera anyway. I also bought a Olympus E-PL1 with lens kit from Cameta for $200 recently and later bought a FL-50R flash, 40-150 lens, and a Pansonic 14mm lens today from eBay for $170.

Thanks a bundle (if $70 is a bundle). I bought the SX40 at Best Buy yesterday for the normal $350. Many of the B&M prices don't work for me in Alaska so I broke down and paid retail. I saw this thread and my wife ran over to Sam's Club for a cell phone pic of the tag and BBY price matched it.
