Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE - Amazon $149.99 with Contract

I'm going to ask Amazon if they are going to pull the same crap Wirefly did and say that because it's a pre-order, technically your order isn't charged until the 18th, and thus does not qualify for the free activation period (which expires on the 14th in this case).

According to the rep I spoke to ( Carly ? ) they go by the date it was ordered. I specifically asked since it was a preorder and wouldn't ship next week. It would qualify

Technically, the activation fee is for NEW lines of service, so for those upgrading it wouldn't apply anyway.

I have a question about the renewal discount. When I called them they said this is a renewal mainly for those who do not want to upgrade in the normal fashion. So, if I order the phone through amazon, or anywhere else, this won't interfere?

Has anyone seen this on display at Sprint? I know ATT has One X on display already. Sprint always waits too long to put their display models out.. i hate it!

Yeah, unfortunately they typically only put out a working model once it has been released. Best Buy sometimes has a mockup version of new phones.

Same thing happened with the Evo 3D. I ordered it before i even got to play with it. Altho i am happy with it now, it be nice to get hands on before ordering.

I will be going to ATT to check it out.. altho the Sprint version is ugly compared to ATT (whatever phone i get will be put in an Otterbox) id like to see that gorgeous screen everyone is talking about. Then id like to check out the SGIII when it comes out.

If they do actually give you free activation on new lines of service, this is a really good deal. I would make sure I have an email or something from Amazon specifically saying that they will honor the $36 credit even on a pre-order. Even with a $36 activation, it is hard to beat this good of a phone for this kind of price.

If you guys call sprint at 1 866 727 0665 and ask for account services, you'll talk to a rep who may waive your activation fee. This is for long term customers only. I didn't qualify but i know some people did.

However, I did get a really nice rep who gave me a "service agreement" credit of some sort that was MORE than the $36 fee. He told me he would credit me a $52.50 credit if i signed a 2 yr contract agreement (and emphasized i MUST stay the 2 yrs - i imagine i'll have to pay it back if i don't). I love Sprint customer service. I was really nice, no attitude...and mentioned that i had yet to use 4g wimax with my evo and that i was considering buying an evo4g lte, but wasnt sure if i wanted to sign a 2 yr contract. YMMV!!

I called them, and they offered me a one month credit for signing a 1 year agreement. She said I can still choose to upgrade as well, but that would obviously change it to a 2 year agreement.
