Hulless Popcorn

I just came from the orthodontist with my son. I knew he wouldn't be able to chew gum, but popcorn never crossed my mind. He's a big popcorn eater and this Friday they are having a popcorn and pillows reading time at school. I'm told by the girl at the orthodontist office that they make hulless popcorn, but she didn't know where to find it. Does anyone know? I really need to get it before Friday. It'll kill my little guy if he can't eat popcorn with the rest of the class on Friday. I'd maybe chance letting him eat regular popcorn, but he's a kernel eater, too and they said that would crack the stuff they just put in his mouth. If anyone out there knows where to get hulless popcorn and how much it costs, that would be great. I've looked on-line and saw some bags at Target, but I'm an idiot that has been spoiled by the ease of microwave popcorn and am clueless how to make popcorn. Also, does it taste the same? Any input is greatly appreciated.

Microwave popcorn often has flavoring built-in where bags of popcorn kernels that you pop yourself won't really have any flavor. You can add melted butter and salt or other flavors.

You can buy a stovetop popcorn popper which cooks the kernels in a bath of butter/oil. This would be similar to what happens in the microwave popcorn bag.

For healthier popcorn, get a hot air popper like the Presto PopLite Hot Air Popcorn Popper which you can find under $20 at walmart [walmart.com] or Amazon [amazon.com]. You can drizzle on melted butter or spray on liquid butter then add salt if you like.
