Definitely an area-dependent experience. I used Clear for about a year. It was nice that it was about $10-15 cheaper than cable companies, but the internet service speed would be affected by inclement weather or even heavy cloud cover. It would also vary in different rooms of the house so I ended up getting a 100' cat-5 cable so the modem could stay in a window with good signal strength.

Overall, the experience for me has been much better through my local cable company. When I had Clear it was the 1.5mbps service, and for $10 more I upgraded to 16mbps service from my local cable company. Quite a difference in speed when you're surfing, although I see that this offer is for Clear 4G which should be considerably faster than the service that I had.

Again, this might be right for your situation - these are just my experiences

have used clear for a while. pretty good stuff to me.

now i do consistently get some pretty great speeds and have seen downloads go up to 1.1 or 1.2MB/s frequently enough, but time warner is a third faster on their regular plan. it's quicker than DSL, no doubt on that, but the cost of it does come out around the same level as cable is. there's a couple unique advantages to make up the difference though, mainly that the internet is all yours instead of the shared nature cable works with, and most importantly, it has no real footprint. plug in to machine, plug in to wall if it's an actual modem and not one of those USB sticks, done. simplest possible setup that, if you're on a high floor, can be very useful and get you great speeds.

of course your experience will entirely depend on the towers. that's the only major issue to remember. time warner in general is better due to speeds + intro prices, but clear's certainly a viable alternative for a lot of people (and is what some cable carriers use as their "wireless service" no less).

Is the Spot Voyager old or new hardware? Are they clearing this out to make room for the Apollo? I see the apollo pictured, but can't see that it is available to purchase?
