Minimized Image Recovery. It will reformat your HD, install a CLEAN WINDOWS 7 with all the essential drivers. And nothing else. CLEAN INSTALL. It won't even add the recovery partition either. I did this after installing my SSD. It does take about 2 1/2 hours to make the discs! |

So, If I opt for the Hard Drive acceleration cache, which I believe is a chip on the HD itself? Will I be able to upgrade/change my actual HD later without bothering the mentioned cache?

I've compared as best I can apples to apples and found only a modest saving after tax on this $899 configuration on Amazon [amazon.com]. The Amazon one comes with Beats Audio - however, I did not see that in the list of the near equivalent HP configuration, while the HP config has the 1TB HD. The after tax HP config is $834...so a 7% savings.
I'd love to amp this one up with backlit, 32GB mSSD, etc, but not sure there is enough savings in it for me. However, if I lived in a no sales tax state, I'd probably jump. |

The Amazon config also has 1366x768 resolution, compared with 1080p on the HP. This is definitely a better deal than the amazon, and I would say honestly the best laptop you can get right now. Anything more will weight too much and have too little battery life, and anything less could choke on graphics-intensive programs (such as gaming, video-editing, or modeling software). |
