It seems as though there is a lot of confusion. Here's how it works:
If you currently have 3G unlimited you can keep unlimited for the time being. How long is not known.
If you transferred your grandfathered unlimited 3G plan into an unlimited 4G plan you will lose unlimited when your contract expires.
All new contracts starting sometime in the Summer, regardless of having unlimited data now, will go into the tiered or family data share plan. i.e. you will no longer have unlimited data.
If you happen to have unlimited LTE (4G) now and are off contract, your best bet is to extend your contract before the new policy takes effect in the Summer that way you have another 2 years of unlimited on your 4G.

If they pull this on me, then i'm switching out on principle. But i should be good for a couple of years as i just upgraded a couple of months ago.

I love this. Cable and satilite providers dick us (the consumer) over and over for years so we (the consumer) say, "No, screw you. We'll use hulu, netflix, torrents, streams, etc to get our entertainment."
Then instead of trying to be a better provider or market, they say, "Oh yeah? Well screw you too. We're capping everything." :< |

Now how about decreasing the rate for the rest of the users, who no longer need to subsidize for the 1% data hogs.

They're following in the foot steps of Virgin Mobile who is doing the same thing this month I believe.
