links changed

Sometimes you need to copy paste a link in the contests forum to enter, something changed in the past week or two where the links wont work if you copy paste them now. You end up with something like this

Can you give an example of a link that needs to be copied and paste? The facebook links works fine?

There are a couple mlb contests posted today that needed it, and it just happens randomly. I used to copy paste and strip the slickdeals part out when needed but that no longer works

Then hit Decode. Voila.

I have had URL rewriting issues like that a lot since I use a heavily blocked hosts file and almost all if not all affiliate/ ad servers are blocked in it. So Almost all SD urls end up in 404 errors for me.

An extremely crappy move by SD. Affiliate money is ok, but there is no point in making it so invasive.

What actually happened is that if we do not encode urls, sometimes they break because all url params are supposed to be encoded by the html standards and specifications - if a url had a non alphanumeric character in there it could break...

So its one half dozen, 6 the other.

It's not invasive because to 99.99% of users, the urls work. Because you specifically have a blocked host file isnt something we can control, or is it a typical use case scenario.
