I suspect you dislike string theory and others like it because of the conclusions it seems to imply that the universe is very likely a natural system that has no need for any intelligence to create it or the rules it goes by. Even if string theory becomes falsified, I still suspect the next model will likewise be free of the need of a creator so it really doesn't actually matter whether or not string theory is a blind alley or not. As for your claim that it is not testable, how about explaining why you think that is the case and offer up something other than a naked assertion. Here, I will start with some ways in which it is testable. http://phys.org/news88786651.html http://www.sciencemag.org/content....2.summary http://www.wired.com/wiredscience...y-quantum/ http://arxiv.org/abs/hep-ph/0604255 |

Strange. I hold the exact opposite view. String Theory is MUCH more tenable to me than some omnipotent being pulling the puppet strings of everything in the universe, and all things in ALL universes. I also find it MUCH easier to believe that BOTH ideas are likely wrong and yet a third alternative is even MORE likely, though I haven't a clue what that 3rd alternative might be. You might say I just take it on "faith". ![]() I probably should never have seen the Wizard of Oz, I can no longer believe in omnipotence. |

This review has created quite a stir...
The physicists, philosophers and theologians are really going at it.

You're claiming something infinitely more complex is the reason for everything except of course it's own existence. That is intellectual dishonesty of the highest magnitude. |

"How do you identify a capitalist? Well, it's someone who reads Rand's Atlas Sharted. And how do you identify some who knows Rand is FOS? It's someone who actually finished the book." - Ronald McDonald "The upper class keeps all of the money, pays none of the taxes. The middle class pays all of the taxes, does all of the work. The poor are there just to scare the shit out of the middle class. Keep 'em showing up at those jobs." - George Carlin |

I suppose two tin cans with a string tied between them are no different than the internet, then. |
