GUNS Reloading Thread
I haven't seen any threads on SD concerning reloading ammo. I'd like to learn more about it but want the SD perspective as the only reason I would do it is to save money. I'm asking because I got a good deal on a used Dillon Square Deal B, but am thinking of upgrading before I've loaded a round on it.Where I'm coming from - I've loaded a lot of shells on my father's Dillon 550, but he always did the setup. Right now, I would only think about reloading 9, 45, 223, 308, and 7.62x39. Again, I am strictly looking at making cheap(er) ammo. I don't care about custom loads and I wouldn't consider reloading a hobby, just a way to shoot more economically. Of the rounds I've mentioned, which are economical to reload? Everyone is telling me NOT to reload 223. It's too time and equipment intensive and you don't save too much. My time does have value and I won't spend 9 hours to save $50 on 1000 rounds. How much are you spending (time and money) to reload the calibers mentioned? I'm now thinking of a Dillon 650, but I've seen lots of good things about the Hornady Lock and Load AP. Anybody have experience with either? Where is the best/cheapest place to buy reloading components? I have a C&R if it helps, but it seems less and less places are giving a discount for it. |
