remaining $15 should show up in a few weeks according to the article:

I got the 27th regarding the upgrade date from Virgin web site. The wording is a bit confusing, but it looks like you can upgrade to the Optimus Elite until May 27. Since the Elite was launched after May 1, you will need to change your plan if you upgrade starting on May 27:

Starting May 27, 2012, if you are using the $25, $40, or $60 Beyond Talk plan and you upgrade to a Beyond Talk Smartphone launched after May 1, 2012*, you will need to switch to the $35, $45, or $55 Beyond Talk plan. When you switch plans, you will need to pay for your new plan and you will lose any minutes, messages, and money in your balance. This will also change your monthly payment date. So if you are considering upgrading to a new smartphone, we recommend that you wait until right before your next monthly payment date to activate.

*The following smartphones launched before May 1, 2012 and are therefore not subject to the new device upgrade rules at this time: VentureTM, LG ® OptimusTM Slider, HTC ® Wildfire STM, Motorola TriumphTM, LG ® Optimus VTM, Blackberry ® CurveTM 8530.

I am one of the people participating in that link. There really isn't a lot of information yet, and a lot of it is contradictory, just like the Grandfathering topic about whether the Elite is grandfathered or not, whether it is the 19th, 20th, or 27th, etc.

I still strongly urge those who are on the fence to buy one today or tomorrow, knowing you can always go back to your old phone.

I talked to two VM reps saying a new text was coming out on the 20th, ending the grandfathering for the Elite, in essence, giving a "breather" between the original 5/1 date and now. That is why I jumped on it now rather than teetering on it. Since you aren't out more than a little hassle, best to be safe and do it now.

I have the Optimus V, you guys think this is worth the upgrade?

does anyone know if you can still create a free hotspot on these like you could on the LG optimus V? On the optimus V all you had to do was download "quick settings" from the store.... Cheers,

a comparison on phonescoop will give you the basics. I consider it a major upgrade.

There is already a lot of discussion on the benefits of the upgrade and possible need to do it today or tomorrow. check androidcentral for several message strings if you are interested.
