I have the previous model HTC Sensation 4G and I can confirm stock battery isn't that great...about on par with an iPhone battery. I fixed this by upgrading to a $20 larger capacity Anker battery and now my phone lasts a good 4 or 5 hours longer than normal without having to bulk up my phone.

That being said, I do with I had waited to upgrade until the One X came out.

Yea I'm not surprised. The only htc phone I've person owned was the mytouch4g. Great phone, looked great but that battery.

that is an absurd statement, lots of phones take much better pictures and have much better gps reception. You must not be looking very hard, try looking on the internet or in a store.

Spending more than $300 on an Android phone (or anything that's not an iPhone) is just silly.

The Nokia Lumia 900 and Pantech Burst have the right idea. No reason to drop boatloads on something that loses value so quickly (basically anything without the Apple logo). They perform well enough for the vast majority of users.

Phones like the One X remind me of computers with quad-SLI of the latest high-end graphics cards; needless amounts of power that will hardly be utilized and will be outdated in short order. No thanks, I'd rather save my money.

But at least those dudes have multi-screen monitors with games that just might benefit from the juice, nevermind distributed computing. What the heck do you guys do with your phones that you need four 1.5GHz A9 cores and a GeForce ULP?

iPhones are appetizers, Androids are Entrees. Everyone looooooves Appetizers, restaurants over price them and make lots of money from them. There is nothing wrong with appetizers, but eventually you want a meal.

An high end android can function as a PSP/gameboy replacement especially with the offerings from gameloft, ea, and smaller developers cranking out games like dark meadows, grand theft auto 3 and shadow gun. Smart phones and tablets are a formidable gaming platform. IOS still has a little bit of a lead but there is still plenty of content on android phones.

the 4s has Russian glonass in addition to GPS..that's why its faster...its a shame HTC didn't include glonass in one series
The 4s camera is still > any cellphone camera...see for yourself, use the photo compare tool on gsmarena...they take the same photo for easy comparison

You're essentially saying the mass market of consumers are silly, because the fact is just that.

A large percentage of mobile customers subsidize their phones and they will end up paying way more than this after 2 years of wallet gouging.

For the sake of getting a "Free" phone people have subsidized phones that are valued much less than this.

As long as phones stay expensive, top tiered or not, it gives wireless carriers their subsidizing death grips. They make way more money locking your wallet in for 24 months vs selling you a lousy phone that's not really worth that much.

You do not need a Tegra 3 to do this. A Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy S II or Pantech Burst will perform practically just as well for (much) cheaper than this phone. These specs are just for bragging rights and don't add anything to the practical usability of this phone.

I advocate getting a nice off-contract phone for cheap (e.g. second-hand Lumia 900 or Pantech Burst; you can get the latter LNIB for under $200) and going to Straight Talk. Or if you're going to stick with a carrier, buy an iPhone 4S and flip it, then buy the phone you really want (second-hand if necessary). High-end Android phones always have inflated retail prices.
