Don't fool yourself. you can buy warped 2X4's at any of the 3. It obviously varies from store to store but I find myself schooling the people at home depot when I am looking for items needed for my profession.
I can school the folks in most departments and I'm not in a profession related directly to any of the departments. (Computer Programmer) If you are counting on the advice from any employee at any store, I would call you foolish.

I will buy from the store that has the product I want at the best price. Nothing more is important to me. In most cases I have seen Menards as the winner in this contest, but I still find my way to HD and Lowes on occasion.

Menards is great for nickels and dimes stuff, if you are planning spend a large chunk of change for windows, doors etc. you may want to think it twice. Spend a few percents more, go to Lowes or Home Depot where you can talk and deal with MEN instead of BOYS.

Menards is getting big and bigger due to their low prices, it's not every things Menards sold are bad but don't count on Menards after they took your $ and you went home with stuff that you purchased at Menards.I learned it (hard way, of course) now I rather spend a few bucks more , go to Home Depot or Lowes, better products, best of all : I can talk and deal with MEN instead of BOYS.
Menards does not carry as much of the high end doors/windows/appliances/... as the other guys. This is true.

As far as Men vs Boys, they all have Boys, girls, retired folks, and idiot men/women working at them. Being a store employee at any of them isn't exactly an achievement for anyone with any level of applicable knowledge.

Find the product you want, then find the store with the best price. If you're depending on the employees, good luck.

We are in the same field. However I am on the wire/hardware end of it.

I buy my surface mount boxes at HD. They are cheaper than Menards and are a better brand name (leviton I think it is). They also are the same price or cheaper than graybar.. RJ45 keystone jacks I buy in bulk from China.

Cat5e I get from Menards when in a pinch (otherwise I order it online). it's north of 100 bucks a box at Lowes/HD.

The guys at HD know high voltage, but they light up like a 120 volt bulb on a 24 volt line when I start talking low voltage stuff with them.

My hubby ran in yesterday and picked up a gift card for my father in law and the cashier gave him the rebate. I didnt see anywhere in the fine print where gift cards are excluded, though i only read through it quickly. So that was a nice surprise!
No, she gave you the rebate form. Try to get the rebate and all you'll be doing is wasting a stamp. Sorry.

From the TOS:
Excludes gift cards, online purchases, delivery and
handling charges, all rental items and extended service
agreements. Limited to stock on hand, no rainchecks,
first come, first served. Arrangements must be made for
immediate pick up or delivery. Sorry, no prepaids, no
holding merchandise, no layaways, no prior sale adjustments.
Future sale price adjustments will void the 11% rebate on
items adjusted. Rebate does not extend to the special
ordering of any normally stocked items. Not good with
any other coupons or offers except Menards coupons,
Menards rebates and Manufacturers coupons. Not valid
on prior purchases. Menards reserves the right to limit
purchases of any and all items to reasonable job lot quantities

One of the the nice things about menards rebates is how at the bottom of each receipt are receipts for each item that qualifies for rebates. So if the gift card doesnt qualify, they should not receive the rebate receipt at the bottom

Note that Menards return policies are different under this sale. This is to avoid abuse by people buying stuff and returning it after they get the rebate. (Not that anyone here would try that...)

If you return anything purchased during the 11% "In-store-only-credit-don't-call-it-a-rebate sale" sale (sorry had to cover the politically correct crowd...) and your rebate has not been processed yet, the rebate will be reduced by the returned item.

IE: Buy $100.00 worth of stuff and return $10.00 of stuff, your rebate (in-store credit) will be $9.90.

If you return anything purchased during the 11% sale AND you have sent in your rebate slip AND it has been processed, you will only get the NET amount as a credit.

IE: If you buy $100.00 worth of stuff, get the rebate (er, credit), and then return $10.00 of stuff, your rebate is still $11.00 BUT you will only get $8.90 credit on the stuff you return.

It doesn't matter if you select the merchandise refund as an "In-store" credit, cash, or returned back on your credit card.

Ok just for clarification... If you have a previous rebate check to apply to a purchase today do you get the 11% on the price of the item BEFORE you apply a previous rebate check or do you only receive 11% on the actual price you pay on the receipt (with previous rebate check applied).

Item $10 in store today
have previous rebate check of $2
Net price is $8

Is the 11% on the $10 or the $8? Just wondering if I should hold my previous rebate check to redeem until after this promo is over

Thanks!
It's off your purchases, not off your total.

Item is $10, you receive a rebate receipt #1402 for $1.10 regardless of how you pay.

If you pay by rebate check, then it will reduce the tax amount you owe. In your example, you would owe tax on $8 instead of $10.

Also --If item also has a $5 rebate, you will receive a separate rebate #xxxx for $5 for a total of $6.10 back in rebates.

That's why it's BEST to shop Menards during a 11% off sale at the beginning (Sat/Sun) of the 11% when the previous ads are ending, OR the last 2 days (Sat/Sun) of the 11% off sale when a new ad is beginning, as you can get the FAR items BETTER than FAR (11% better--including tax if you are rolling previous credits). Note: This time they actually have a Memorial day ad running all week on top of the 11% so there are some rebated items in that that will bring them down a bit more after rebate. Otherwise, generally speaking, only shop the 11% on both beginning and ending weekends of it to get the benefit of stacking with other rebates.

Oh regarding help.. Menards is overrun with employees, amazing they can continue to have lower prices (though many things have been creeping up in the last few years, but much like everywhere). However the number that actually care to help you and ask when you clearly are looking for something is small.

Likewise, I think the ability of most of them are no better or worse than those at HD/Lowes. We've had some doosies at those two places who are so clueless and make things up like a used car salesman or a BestBuy salesman just to get you off their backs or to sell you something. Generally Menards people simply tell you they don't know. So I dont really think you can say they're better or worse..just different.

We (entire family) go to Menards for their free or cheap-after rebate stuff with guarenteed, almost always hassle free rebates for 12 years, their strange/unique items that no one else has, their good deals that are stackable with extra discounts/etc.. that are the same exact things the competetors sell for much more, and the simple fact I can spend an hour there and family can too without begging to leave due to the diversity of the store unlike a typicaly home center. Yeah they got cheap trashy stuff sometimes but they also have lots of the same things other places have and sell for much less. This is SlickDeals.. go where you save money to get the same thing. No one here is going to compare the $10 Tool Shop cordless drill to the $120 Dewalt at Lowes.. But if Menards has the same model Dewalt for $99 and 11% rebate, which place do you think you should buy it at?

Sometimes you need to be careful..case in point.. Menards used to sell hiqh quality Melamine (white plastic thermofused to particle board) sheets, and pre cut/pre-drilled/pre-plastic band edged laminate panels. About 4 years ago after constant price increases to almost HD/Lowes prices on them , suddenly they dropped in price. However, they switched suppliers, and now they're simply sold as laminate panels. Looking at them, you can instantly see the horrible difference: Thermofused semi-gloss white paper with horrible drill hole tears. These tear, yellow, stain and wear incredibly fast. I even saw some $350,00 homes on the parade of homes last month use this utter crap in their closets. (Typical starter home price is $150K around here to give you an idea, and $250-$350 is what most people want, $400-$500 is high end). So you have to go to HD/Lowes to get the real Melamine stuff now instead of paper.

It doesn't make any difference how you pay, with store credit rebate or real money, you will get 11% off the total amount, in your case, $10.

hey bro, cmon, you made mistake. my latest post was about telling people they can get 10% off code at post office address change package if they want to go to lowes.
in that post of mine, what has it anything to do menards?

if someone else said this. I'D HAVE GIVEN REP POINTS .

I never said menards or lowes or better or worse.
Wow, if you're trolling me, well played. If you're really this clueless... well there's more going on than anyone can help you with in this forum.

Either way, good luck buddy.

This is an awesome deal, I bought $160 worth of driveway stuff on Sat, didn't realize the 11% was going on. Have to go back tomorrow and get about $100 worth of cold patch, so an extra $11 back is definitely pretty sweet.

It is only 1% rebate after almost 10% tax in some states.

if you guys want to go to lowes for any large shopping, try to get the ADDRESS CHANGE PACKAGE at post office where you may find 10% off lowes, maybe sometimes homedepot.
Some states charge 10% tax, so that is like saving 0% (using your logic here) Wink

Here are the rebates that are starting tomorrow in the new ad. You can stack these rebates AND the 11% and get even better deals; and as posted above, if you pay with your new purchases with existing rebate credit checks, that will reduce your taxable amount accordingly, thus saving you even more. The 11% DOES NOT REDUCE the original rebate, nor does the original rebate reduce the 11%. You get them both.

For sure, out of this list, the TIGI Hair products will be FAR. $9 with a $9 rebate. That means you can make 99 cents per product purchased (if you pay with rebate cards -- less if you pay in cash but unless you have 11% sales tax you still will make money taking them out of the store!)

Menards usually, at most stores, starts honoring the ad prices on Saturday for a Sunday published ad. Simply take a TIGI product to a scanner and ensure it is $9. If so, the rest of the ad should be loaded and the rebates actually start printing out today (Fri) even if your local store doesn't have the new ad paper physically out. In ND and closest MN cities, they AWALYS have the Sun ad loaded on Saturday, but only 70% of the time set the flyer out to look at on Sat.
