I got the HP monitor a few weeks ago at a similar deal -- it is very thin and elegant but yes, it is DISPLAY-PORT only. Actually I like display port, it's the "new thing" and newer video cards support it -- it's better than HDMI for high resolution. (though this monitor is not super-high-res). In my case I needed a mini-Display-Port to DisplayPort cable or adapter. You can also get adapters from HDMI or DVI to DisplayPort.
Also, this model was brand-new-in-box.
