Question about credit card - company sold operations
I have a HSBC credit card, HSBC sold its US credit card operations to another company. I have received a replacement card and it is now with another bank.
My question is, if I activate the replacement card, will this now function as a "new card" with a new credit history or do I retain the history of it when I activate it?
The reason I ask is because this card was my oldest credit card and it's the only reason I have kept it open because it has improved the total credit history but if this card is a totally new, then I don't wan't to activate it and keep it.
Anyone know?
