yup. Dunno if worth it anymore with straight talk giving access to many more phone choices though.

They will be using Sprints Wi-MAx 4G service. And yes, starting 5/27 if you switch to a new phone that was released in May you will be forced to switch to a currently offered plan.

WiMax is sprints old 4g option, they are switching to 4g LTE towers and providing virgin mobile customers with the 4g WiMax technology. The Wimax technology is being phased out so do not expect it to pop up in any new areas, only select cities have WiMax. At $280 this phone has the same release price as the triumph did, main difference is the triumph was and is crap. I read that VM may get the HTC one V as well, not 4g, but a nice 3.7" screen phone.

This phone doesnt have the same specs. This has a dual core 1.2 Ghz processor and 1 gb of ram plus better resolution of the screen and ICS. This is basically twice the phone the triumph is.

yes, but you will reach your cap on the first week. think how fast it is to use up your 2gb on 4g speed.

Actually they aren't capping or throttling 4g at all, only throttling 3g.

Are you sure about that? It sounds like heaven if they do not cap 4g. I can bet with you that they must cap or throttle their 4g to protect themselves.

Very Interesting. Make sure Sprint has good service in your area. Where I live and work, 4G is not available and 3G is less then 100kbps down but phone calls are really good and rarely drop.

I tired Virgin for a little bit, not much in the way of customer service but they seem more then happy to send out refurbed phones if you have a phone issue. I think I saw a post on gizmodo that Boost and Virgin will get throttled.

Agreed, Triumph was not worth $280, The HTC is actually worth $280.

FWIW, for those that don't read wired, you can have your evo 4G phone waterproofed by a company down in california. http://www.liquipel.com/liquipel/ so flipping cool. Unfortunately they don't offer waterproofing for the LG slider I have. (pout!)

Yeah, un-throttled 4G Wimax. Just pre-ordered mine through Radio Shack. Can't wait to retire my LG OV. Seems like a decent no-contract Smartphone. Same exact phone as the original Sprint EVO 3D.
