It is a pretty awesome deal at $299, and considering that they used to regularly go on sale for $350, they may just drop again (memorial day shell shocker maybe?). Even for $299, it is a great deal IMO for a well rounded sub with some nice bonuses, refer to that google docs xls on its performance relative to other subs around it, then look at how much those cost vs. this one . I don't regret my purchases for sure. I would love to have HSU, Velo, etc. but I just ain't got that kind of $ to put into subs. These things definitely do well, and have great sound quality, and Klipsh customer service is great as well. Once of the two I got had been broken in shipping (the tabs for the front cover all broken off), I send an email to Klipsh, and they sent me a new cover free of charge, all I had to do was email them my receipt from the egg. Much better than dealing with a Newegg RMA on these heavy ass subs, which I think technically is what Klipsh support should have made me go through since it was shipping damage, so thumbs up from me.

There is a line that is crossed in subs, and it really isn't a point of diminished returns line, cos if you spend $1000 or more on a GOOD sub, you WILL notice a big difference between those and these types of subs. But, for this price point, you cannot do much better than the Klipsch IMO. The one above (or its 12" sibling) is a good deal too, but if you look at the average SPL output between these and the klipsch, the RW-12d performs quite a bit better, especially in the lower freq's that are so enjoyable in a good effects movie like Jurassic Park, u-571, etc. The ability to IR control the RW-12d to me is worth at least $100 ... I LOVE that feature, use it ALL of the time, you never know from one movie / show to the next when you need to adjust your subs when the kids are asleep, know what I mean? This is the only sub that performs like this that has that feature that I know of. Sure you can do the same thing via the receiver, but that is usually saved per input, you have to go through menus, etc., and doing it via the sub is soooo easy. The sub volume level is on page 1 of my Harmony One's touch screen buttons on all of my profiles .
