For the match, do you have to show "active usage" in your HHonors account? I have a HHonors Gold account status because of the Visa Signature promo, but there's only about 1000 points in it with NO STAY ACTIVITY.
What are the chances of getting Diamond through Hyatt's match before applying for the CC to gain the better signup bonus? Great blog post, hope you're having a great stay in NYC.
Yes, you need to show at least 1 night at any Hilton property in the last 12 months.
That's a great deal. I didn't know about the $75 statement credit offer.
Some other good deals for free hotel stay signup bonuses include:
- Marriott Rewards® Premier Credit Card
- Marriott Rewards® Credit Card
- Starwood Preferred Guest® Credit Card from American Express
When I compare the dollar value of the rewards from those cards to the dollar value of the rewards for the Hyatt card (for a typical spending profile) it looks like the Starwood card and the Mariott Rewards Premier are probably worth at least twice as much as the Hyatt card. I used this rewards calculator to compare them: http://www.creditcardtuneup.com/
Your mileage may vary. You can plug your expected spending into that calculator and see which is better for you.
Cool site. I'm bookmarking it for later review. It lacks one card though; it doesn't have the Priority Club Rewards Visa Signature card from Chase. I got an offer for that card last summer and kept the advert because I wasn't ready to apply for it but was interested (it was the first time I learned that there was a hotel rewards card offering free night stays each year). For this PCR card, the offer was 60,000 signup bonus points (which is worth about 4 to 12 nights of stay) plus a free night every year, worldwide. Annual fee, which is waived for the first year, is $49. I was sold on it but I'm currently unemployed and don't travel much, so I wasn't ready to apply for it. Opinions vs the other cards?
I got this last year. My husband and I used our free nights in New York and saved at least $600. It was peak time and all the rooms were very pricey. We stayed at the Andaz and it was amazing. I was pregnant and it was a nice treat. They even upgraded us! Chase gives you another free night on your one year renewal. (As long as you don't cancel)
I can top that. We used ours last summer at The Churchill in London - a suite for $750/nt X 2 nights.
