Coda 2 is the almost the price in the App store too. It is $49.99 in the App Store, $49 directly from the website. They do this at full price too, not sure who the greedy party is....

At first I was going for the direct purchase, but I hear that Panic said if the MAS version becomes too limiting they will give us a path to the direct version.

I just bought it too. I was a student when I first used it (the trial was really good). Couldn't sped $99 though cos' I got used to other free tools but at $49, it is a no-brainer!

I was worried about the Mac App Store version too, I thought I should call them for a direct version but after your reply, may be not. It may be too limiting (sandbox and stuff) with Mac OS X Mountain Lion which will be out very very soon. Then we can have the direct version I guess!

Panic siad they are grandfathered in to not having to follow the sandbox rules.

Ha ha, I waited so long for a discount. I asked for a student discount long back and the creators emailed back saying it ain't possible but asked me to lookout for deals. I finally read about Coda 2 on theverge and I just bought it though I am into more of Python + MySQL instead of PHP and Web stuff these days, I just wanted a great IDE and here we are! Enjoy coding!

Yeah, same here, I didn't need it much for a while, but now I'm doing web stuffs full time, was getting tired of waiting, but glad the wait paid off in spades

still half price through today. not sure what you mean by version. there is the mac version of coda 2 and diet coda for ipad only.
