Recommendation
Im in western Oregon and am looking to fish for salmon and steel head regularly and sturgeon occasionally. What recommendations do you have? Would 1 rod work for all 3, or would each type of fish require different rod? Total noob here, any help would be awesome.

Does this item qualify for the rebate? If so, what is the amount of rebate?
Gander Mountain Advantage Series IM6 5'6" Ultralight Rod Item # 401245 It does not specify on the webpage like the rest of the listed ones. The listed ones break down the amount for you. This particular rod only says, "rebate" but does not say how much. Thanks for any info. anyone? Which ultralight rod did you pick up? How much? Is there a rebate associated with it? Thanks for any info. Last edited by ktv1969; 05-24-2012 at 09:19 PM.. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

Cabela's had the Daiwa D-Shock Spinning Rod/Reel Combo $17 Shipped in April and we were all over it. They also had some killer reels for less than half price too. Since all prices were well below Walmart's prices, we purchased a 10-15 year supply [we've been a bit rough with our gear so we usually get 10 years per rod/reel before I like to replace them]. Can anyone tell me how these Gander Mountain rods compare to the Daiwa D-Shock Spinning Rod/Reel Combo $17 Shipped @ Cabela's? Thank you! Soar PS I have attached a pic of some trout we caught up in the high lakes of the Sierra Nevada's here in California. They are either german brown trout or rainbows...I get em' mixed up at times! The Cabela deal with the Daiwa combo's were much better priced, but I am still wondering who has the best quality... Soar |

Striped bass, rather than fast and easy strippers, are usually in salt water. They require a very large rod because they'll take your arm off, much like strippers. Small and large mouth bass are fresh water, and you can use any ultralight smaller rod, and they'll work fine. Freshwater bass come it at a high of 6-7 lbs usually. Striped bass can weigh as much as a elementary school child, thus require a larger rod. Spare the rod, spoil the child.

It looks like they just added a bunch more spinning configurations. Yesterday they only had a 6'6" M action, now they have various actions ranging from 5'6" to 7'. I picked up 3 more spinning rods to add to my fresh/saltwater collection and also added some line/bait to bring it over $100 and use the $10 off coupon. Thanks again OP!
