Thread Details

Panasonic 50" Plasma VIERA TC-P50U50 / TC-50PU54 1080p 600Hz HDTV $748 / $698

These two models are virtually identical warehouse vs. retail store model #'s...Sam's Club has this TV on sale for an instant $50 savings for $698 + tax with free shipping. http://www.samsclub.com/sams/shop...ction=push

Amazon.com has the same TV (TC-P50U50) for $792.99 (no tax) + free shipping, Free 30 Day TV Returns, & TV Low Price Guarantee. http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-V...lectronics

I have been eyeing this TV for awhile and finally decided to pull the trigger and purchased from Amazon. The next day Sam's Club started their instant savings...so I applied for Amazon's Low Price Guarantee. In the fine print Amazon states that they won't honor deals that state "while supplies last" so I listed Sam's Clubs original price of $748. They approved the price & issued a refund of $51.99 from my $799.99 total bringing the price to $748. No tax, free shipping, & free 30 day return!!!

Cnet gives the Panasonic TC-P50UT50 (the model above this one essentially same TV + WiFi Ready) a very good review... http://reviews.cnet.com/flat-pane...s;prodInfo

If you're looking for a high-end plasma tv and don't care about 3D or WiFi...$748 from Amazon or $698 + tax from Sam's Club is a killer deal!

Costco has the same set for $699.
After reading a few reviews, I really thinking about grabbing this new set.

They said they were two different models. How did you get them to see warehouse vs retail model?

You have to have purchased the TV first before requesting the "Low Price Guarantee"...I just told them it was the same TV, just different model #'s based on retail vs. warehouse markets and gave them the link to the online price of Sam's Club. I also said I would be sending the TV back if they didn't honor Sam's Clubs price. The next day I recieved an email saying they would refund $51.99 to my credit card...

I finally got it all situated on a wall mount and it looks pretty sweet!!!

I grabbed the panel at Costco. VERY nice display, but I underestimated the glare on the glossy screen. I didn't realize my older TH-42PX60U had a non-glare coating. I may have to step up to the ST50 or go LCD. I wish they made the same TV with the non-glare. Perhaps in the professional line?
Anyway, if glare is not an issue for you I definitely recommend this set.

Amazon isn't tax-free everywhere. The two most populous states in the US have tax from Amazon.

I saw the price going down this morning and ordered one from Sams.
Will pick up in store tomorrow. I have 3 months to try it out, so why not...

Price for the U54 is now $600 at Costco, albeit $100 shipping for some, which tarnishes some of the slick. I was lucky enough to swipe a display model this evening from my local Costco for $450 before taxes & CA recycling fee (was listed for $500, but came without a box; had mgr take another $50 off), and it has Costco's legendary warranty, like it's a brand new unit. What an awesome picture - VERY satisfied.

Bought the U54 at Sams for $598. Same TV as the U50 but they strip the internet apps and some connections. Very nice TV for Xbox, awesome picture, not used to these deep plasma blacks (first plasma, have a couple LCD's) haven't gotten to watch any HD television on it though.
