Good Quality Ultrabook PCs?
Anyone know a good quality Ultrabook notebook or laptop?I've been looking at HP Envys are these of good quality? - Used: for work, movies, running 5 or more programs and 20 webpages at the same time. - Price: $600-950 i was previously looking for comps up to $600 but for a good build quality ultrabook - I might put out up to $950. - i5 processor i think - SSD HD preferred - good quality screen is preferred not necessary - lighter and of good build quality preferred I just don't know much about them, I am used to bottom line, cheap quality computers... |

If you are willing to spend up to $950, I'll suggest to get a Mac Book Air.
Compare to other Ultrabook, the MBA has a very balance performance. Please don't just look at the CPU or memory size. Overall design, stability and cooling system are also important to a ultrabook. |

Look at the Lenovo X220. Much better build than HP, you can get an i5 or i7 & you can get one with an IPS screen. The next gen X230 will roll out soon, so watch the Lenovo Outlet [lenovo.com] for discounted X220s.

The X220 can be had for around $660 new at the X220 i3/i5 Lenovo Outlet (US) [lenovo.com] . Last edited by FAL; 05-25-2012 at 12:39 PM.. |

Thanks guys I really appreciate your help I've learned a TON.
So would you guys recommend HP Envys or Folios?? I kind of wanted a 14 - 15 incher, but the X220 only goes up to 13 inches. Do the HP thin or sleekbooks compare to the quality of Lenovo sleekbooks? Maybe I will have to just take a cut |

I'm not a heavy gamer, but want to be able to play the occasional game such as Starcraft II with modest settings as well as other day-to-day tasks(web browsing, netflix, word processing, software development) with a light/sleek laptop. Would those of you in the know say that the coming generation of Ivy Bridge ultrabooks such as the Zenbook Prime would be able to meet these needs? I have a very clunky HP dv6700 that I've had for the past 5 years and would love to upgrade to something that's much more stylish that is still able to deliver the performance I need. From what you guys know, is it reasonable to expect the new batch of ultrabooks to function as a primary laptop or should I be looking the HP Envy, Dell XPS Z and other sleek but full-fledged laptops? I've got a budget of about $1500 to sink on this. As with anyone on this forum, I'm a sucker for a deal, so bang for the buck is a huge factor. |
