I still prefer "Frank's 2000 inch TV" personally

Could I have bought this? Yes. Would it look great in my medium sized living room? Probably. Why didn't I buy the biggest TV I could get for my budget? Because I am sensible and chose the best tech based on the pros and cons I gathered from research. |

I guess I just don't understand why DLP isn't a perfectly good solution for someone that wants a large picture, doesn't want/need to hang it on a wall, and doesn't want to pay multiple times the price. |

Actually the DLP bulbs are pretty cheap, they costs about $50-60 from Ebay and most other places. Do a search. It's pretty easy to change. I think one big drawback is the display varies if you watch it from different angles...

In my experience the only people that crap on DLP TV's are those that do not have one. I have the 82" WD-82738 That I got in September of 2010 for about $2300, which was a GREAT deal at the time. When setup at my house, it LOOKS like it is a flat screen. In fact when people come in my house and see my TV, the first thing they usually ask is what it cost, so I will reply with "It's an 82" LCD, I paid $15,000 for it" I have yet to have anyone say it is not an LCD until they actually go behind it. The picture quality on this set is amazing, but as other have said it does need to be in a dark area. As far as the bulbs needing to be replaced, My TV is on pretty much all day long for an average of I would say 10 hours and I have not had to replace the bulb yet. But if you go to the link I sent above you can order a replacement under warranty before the year is up and you have a spare bulb. They do not require you to send the old one back. The viewing angle on my TV is not an issue at all. I can see it at any angle just as good as my small LCD I have in my room. It MIGHT be an issue if I was directly to the side of the TV, but who watches TV like that anyhow? Now if you don't want a DLP, fine. I am not asking you to buy one, but do not scare others off thinking this is an inferior set or something, when the truth is it blows everything else out of the water (in my opinion) Edit - Added a picture so you can see below. Sorry for the close up, the picture was actually to show the stand I had just purchased at the time, which was about $175 at IKEA btw.
