Tmobile also has a similar offer if your are on Monthly 4G plan of $50 or above, you can add unlimited calling to India landlines (maybe cellular also works since they just club everything together as landlines) for $10 extra.

I received a total of three calls from straight talk regarding my 2GB data usage my first month. In the end they appeared to have simply disabled data access on my phone. I jumped to the T-Mobile unlimited contract-free for $15 more and have not regretted it since.

Straight talk was bad enough for me to leave mid cycle. Do not recommend.

you simply get $30 prepaid plan from tmobile and install skype and sign up for whatever international plan you see fit....way cheaper than straight talk or any other tmobile plan...nothing beats this

Is calling to India's mobile included? There's not much information from Straight Talk web site.

My daughter is spending 3 months in Ireland and Ive been worried about her not having a phone. Im a bit confused by this plan.. Would this work to call home to USA from Ireland? Am I missing something.. Are there hidden fees? Also can someone provide some insight on which phones will work with this plan? (could i just buy a cheap palm pixie and do this)?
Any thoughts or insights would be greatly appreciated...

AT&T and Straight Talk (with AT&T SIM) speeds are similar. I get around 5.5mb download with an iPhone 4. Coverage is also the same as postpaid/contract AT&T or T-Mobile (roaming is included, which is rare for prepaid). However, you should use less than 2GB a month of data to consider Straight Talk - if you're a heavy data user they will eventually cut you off.

If you're happy with T-Mobile's network, you should get a T-Mobile SIM with Straight Talk... since I'm guessing you have a T-Mobile phone? (often/usually your phone will only get either AT&T or T-Mobile 3G/4G). I know in some big cities AT&T really blows compared to T-Mobile - that was my experience too at least here in Cali (T-Mo was my previous carrier, although now I use AT&T for the iPhone) - I still remember the time I switched to AT&T's network and went to LA, I dropped more calls in one day than I had ever dropped in many years of T-Mobile. If you have more questions you can also consider reviewing the Straight Talk forum over at HowardForums.
I have similar experience and agree with this advice.

I have used the skype app on my android phones. Usually the results are very good on wifi and acceptable on 3G if you are calling skype to skype. If you are calling to skype to phone, the results are mixed. Usually OK, but not great and I would not want to depend on this for important calls.
