Speaking of 16GB RAM upgrades, I was thinking getting a pair of RAM sticks for my T420s. Anyone know if these are compatible with it? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Pro...6820233217 T420s specs says it maxes out at 8GB, but I've read that the Intel Mobo supports up to 16GB. Anyone ever try these Corsairs with the T420s? |

Let me know if you get this. I'm looking at this, also thinking about a t420s which is slimmer and has a USB 3.0 Also considering a smaller comp. Anyone have experience with the Thinkpad X series? Are they of as good a quality build quality as the T series? I'm considering a 13.5 X series kinda small but should be nice and portable...but expensive edit: I don't play PC games or anything so I don't need graphics. also portable is a plus is this a descent deal. seems like ok for what you get, a thinner, T420s : ThinkPad T420s - Express - 1 Yr Depot Topseller Warranty $1,063.24 Intel Core i5-2520M Processor (3M Cache, 2.50GHz) Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) 14.0" HD+ (1600 x 900) LED Backlit AntiGlare Display Intel HD Graphics 3000 in processor 4 GB PC3-10600 DDR3 SDRAM 1333MHz SODIMM Memory (1 DIMM) UltraNav multi-touch touchpad & TrackPoint 128GB Solid State Drive, Serial ATA DVD Recordable Lithium Ion 6-cell Battery Bluetooth 3.0 wireless ThinkPad 1x1 b/g/n Mobile Broadband ready (no mobile broadband module) 1 Year Depot/Express Warranty edit: Last edited by intelinside; 05-30-2012 at 11:41 AM.. |

i5-2520 NIVIDIA Quadro 4GB RAM 1600x900 res 160GB SSD 9 cell batt I was also looking at a T420s but the added perks didn't justify the expense for me. I have heard that the T420 screens are not best, but I have not heard that they are terrible. It may have to do with the fact that they are an anti-glare matte finish instead of the typical glossy finish (this is just speculation, I don't know the reason they are considered bad). However, it is difficult to find a 13-14" laptop with this high of resolution so for me it is worth it. I know the W series has 1920x1080, but a 15.6" laptop is way too big IMO. |

I must be doing something wrong, but I keep looking on the outlet site and can never find something that cheap $600!!!!... if I look right now a T420 w/ SSD around same specs is like $850+. The cheapest T420 on the site right now without SSD is like $550?? |

One trick was to use no filters and just scroll through all of the laptops. I just ctrl+f and search for "t420" and hop around that way. Also, I had 3 different browsers open on my laptop and could never get any slick deals to pop up. I hopped over to my tablet and searched through the outlet deals and finally found something; ordered it right there on my tablet because I could never get it to show up on my computer. Don't know if my tablet actually has anything to do with it, but it worked for me. |
